DualShockers is Looking For a Few Good Writers

DualShockers is on the look out for a few good writers. We are an up and coming gaming news/enthusiast blog and we are looking to add to our stacked arsenal of writers. As of right now because the site is still very new, this is a volunteer/freelance work so there is no compensation at first. In 8 months or so, as the site begins to generate revenue the editors will get together to discuss options and writer compensation. What you will receive in the meantime is experience and exposure in the video game industry as we are currently setting ourselves up to attend all major industry trade shows (i.e. GDC, E32010, TGS 2010).

To apply all you have to do is send us 3 writing samples. Two of the pieces are to be game related news or editorials. The third piece should be about your gaming background and why you would want to be a part of the DualShockers team. All submissions are to be sent HERE. The subject line should read “Contributor Sample”. Please DO NOT put your writing samples in the actual email message box, they should be attached in MS Word Doc format. The most important thing is: have fun and be loose with your writing, no one likes to read boring material!

Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Responsible
  • Very basic knowledge of HTML (embedding pictures and videos)
  • Ability to form sentences, phrases, and complete thoughts that make sense
  • Love of any and all Video Games Consoles and Handhelds
  • Personality (no one likes monotone writing)

i wish i had the time to write. you need a girls point of view. most reviews are male driven, they are boring to most girls. we tend to like some of the same games, but we actually like the games that you guys make fun of. bottom line though we are both gamers. female gamers are taken over, our population is as big as yours. we like to play coop, or mobile. we like educational games, those that are intellectually stimulating. we like role playing games, an escape to the real world. we dont really like killing and slashing, although i have to admit when i have pms or my heart broken, those are the games i tend to seek. this is a call to girls, start writing, inspire other girls to game freely, and show male gamers that we are here to stay, so they better make room for us, unless they want us to kick them out (just kidding)

    @ jennyfromtheblock

there’s always time for writing, and i know I speak for the whole team here when I say we would like nothing more than to have a female gamer perspective. That would help us truly reach every gamer audience. So how about sending in 3 pieces for us to look at?

Guys can shoot and kill in video games all the time ‘Jennyfromtheblock’ because 99.9% of them suffer from CMS. The C stands for Constant. I agree with Joel, Jennyfromtheblock, there is always time for writing. So give it a try, who knows we might end up working together.
