Modern Warfare 2 Is A ‘Monster’!

Monster Energy is now the official drink for the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 2. What a relief; now I can play my favorite anticipated game, and stay up all night with something that gives some oomph in kicking your insides. I love this combo, and what makes me love it more is the many chances to win something.

Buy GT PSP and Get A Free Car

With Gran Turismo PSP releasing tomorrow as well as the PSP Go, it seems that Sony at least wants to move copies of GT PSP. If you purchase GT PSP via the PSN from October 1 – 15, then you will receive a free car in game. To me, this isn’t a good enough deal to push me to purchasing this game right out of the gate, but to some, this may sway them to purchase the game.  I just wish Sony wouldn’t alienate their consumers so much.

Dead Space 2 Entering Production in “Next Few Months”

I remember clearly when I first played Dead Space. It was Fall of last year. Joel and I were shuffling our foots whilst walking the street of Brooklyn on a chilled somber evening. The skies cast a brisk blanket of grayish hues that reflected the day’s overall feeling – intimidating and obscure. Speaking in resonant tones, Joel and I remembered that a sci-fi horror game had released that very day. The name of the game was Dead Space. Its name contrasting the very ambiance we permeated at that very moment. GameStop was a mere half a block away and, with our hands in our pockets to shelter out cold Fall’s breath, we made way into the game store that would momentarily harbor us from the frigid conditions that stalked the city unmercifully. “Let me have Dead Space for the PS3,” Joel told the lanky GameStop clerk while patting his pockets for his wallet. I stood there pacing back and forth eager to return home. The day reminded me of one of those “your favorite time of the day” of the Dead movies where everything was just too quiet for comfort at first until a brain-craving zombie jumps out from the depths of god knows where to bite your hand – turning you into a retard zombie after.

Game Crazy Cuts Itself By A Third

If you are an advent gamer who loves to shop for gaming material, then you might have wound your way into a Game Crazy store. No, not Game Stop, Game Crazy, a store almost identical but more insane. Have we heard anything about these stores in New York? I only found out these stores exist after hearing that 200 of their 680 stores are closing. No marketing, no publicity, nothing.

Can A Game Be Too Pretty?

Delve with me into an age old question: can a video game be too pretty? I am sure many of you will fly off the handle and simply reply “of course not!”. Understandably so seeing as many of us in the gaming community have waited for this current generation of games to really exercise our HD televisions, but I pose to you the conundrum… Can a game be too pretty for multiplayer? Think before answering.

Recently I delved into the newest demo from our friends over at Naughty Dog and really didn’t think too much of it until I began to play the game. Myself and the other editors decided to play multiplayer matches to get a feel for the game and the controls, but what we found was breath taking. Uncharted 2 is a masterpiece on all fronts so far, creating a fun mix of combat and action right into their multiplayer. Here is where the integral question lies, is Uncharted 2 too pretty to play on multiplayer?

You may think that I may be worried about possible lag issues because of the high resolution and frame rate of the title, but this isn’t the case at all. My main concern was with the sheer beauty of the game, it caught me by surprise so much that during deathmatches I would literally walk away and just look at the scenery. In the temple during a RPG match I caught myself looking at the candles on the wall and commenting to the other editors how truly spectacular they looked. Then during the Ice stage I found myself looking at the tread marks left in the snow left by other players. In one stage my admiration of trickling water in the corner got me assassinated. Even during a simple reload I found myself admiring the actual clip I just removed out of the AK47 that now lay on the ground.

I submit to you that Uncharted 2 is just too pretty and actually takes your attention away from killing others. Perhaps once I am used to the sheer beauty of the game, then and only then, can I really become a lean mean killing machine. As of right now I feel like an art student looking at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel wondering how Michaelangelo achieved such greatness.

My only greater fear is that Uncharted 3 may be even better… impossible!

Split/Second Box Art Revealed

Split/Second is an action racing game that is being developed by Black Rock Studio. Disney Interactive Studios, the game’s publisher, released the final box art for the game on various systems today. Split/Second was chosen as “Best Racing Game” for the Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2009. What’s unique about this racer is that the entire game is set within a reality TV show (like we don’t have enough of those, right?). In this show, the competitors ignite events t hat alter the track and can take out opponents. Usually in an action racing game, your opponents use various objects fired from the vehicle to disrupt you, but in this game the track itself is altered. Sounds interesting! The game isn’t set to ship until 2010, but here’s the box art released today.

Cabelas Big Game Hunter 2010 In Stores Now

For all of you out there that thirst for the big game hunting experience, but without the guilt of knowing you killed Bambi’s mother in the process, rejoice once again. The Cabela franchise has just released it’s newest iteration of the Big Game Hunter series. It is available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii. If any of you listen to the Giant Bombcast, then you will think of laser rifles and space deer in this “futuristic” space hunting game set in the not so distant future of 2010. I think they are right, being raised in the 90s or prior make the concept of the year 2010 seem futuristic. I mean, Terminator talked about the 90s being when the apocalypse came, and we all saw how that panned out, I digress. Every year I see this game release, I always chuckle and think of how fun it would be to do some virtual trophy hunting, maybe this year is the year I do it. Screenshots after the break.

MMA Fighter vs. EA Dev

Never thought you may see that title ever in your life time did you? Since EA is making their own version of an MMA title they may have asked for this. MMA is explosive and full of characters and probably one of the biggest characters has to be Jason “Mayhem” Miller. You may better know him from the MTV show “Bully Beatdown” where bullies pretty much get their asses kicked by MMA fighters and Mayhem is the crazy loudmouth host. Well EA decided to show off the game to some of the fighters including Mayhem and he decided to make them shit themselves when he was showed his stats. Watch as Rob Hydar, EA MMA Head Developer, shits his pants and then breathes the biggest sigh of relief when he is told that its just a joke.

Uncharted 2 Character Bios

The majority of you reading this have probably gone on N4G and took notice of the ridiculous amounts of Uncharted 2 reviews that have gone up from just about every single publication besides ours. Don’t fret, ladies and gentlemen, we promise to bring you a review in the coming days.

Now, anyone who’s seen Uncharted 2 will tell you that the game will, one way or another, cause your eyes to secrete genital fluids. How? I don’t know. Unless, of course, you’re an Xbot, you’ll wholeheartedly agree with me on this. At this point, PS3 fans are rejoicing, getting drunk, fingering each other – doing the things that people only do on New Year’s Eve with the addition of excessively ridiculing the 360 fans for their enjoyment. 360 fanboys… well, they’re probably outside somewhere kicking rocks, or strangling their parents in dysphoria. Whatever the case, Uncharted 2 has met the expectations of just about every single person in the industry, including developers.

So, in an attempt to further tickle your pickles, we are providing you all with character bios from the Uncharted 2 game so that you can familiarize yourselves with who’s who when you play the game. Of course, you’ll all recall the “main” characters, but, there are some new additions to the cast that might be worth taking a look at.

Exclusive Gran Turismo 5 “October” Screenshots

Racing fans everywhere unite and behold the latest screens of Polyphony Digital’s opus, Gran Turismo 5. The game has been in development for about 4 years now, and dammit it shows. Some of these pics will make you question whether they are in game or real life, and the answer is: I dunno. I mean we know they’re shots of the game but it’s still a little hard to believe. To say any other racer can rival these visuals would be blasphemous, and that’s not even an attempt to strike up controversy or to have fans of Forza attack me with pitchforks. The proof is in the pudding, just take a look at this outrageous screenshots below.
