Operation Flashpoint Patch Coming With First DLC

Not many people were fond of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. Some thought it was a tad cheap with the whole “one shot kill” thing that, you know, was only based on realism; others thought the game too slow in contrast to what they were used to. But, all that aside, the game is pretty decent, as per reviewers. It’s not the most shiny FPS to grace consoles this year, but it does its job in keep folks entertained a bit, eh? For those of you avid supporters of the game, you’ll be quite happy to know that Operation Flashpoint is due to receive a network optimization patch with the release of the game’s first DLC at the end of this month. Sion Lenton, the executive producer of the game, was interviewed by Eurogamer and stated that Codemasters does have plans for more downloadable content.

“It’s not a lot of fuss for us to make new content – it’s actually quite easy for us to get it out there, with regards to things like levels, game modes, etc,” said Lenton. The problem that is causing a stir, however, is balance problems that players of the game have been saying on the game’s official forum. With the upcoming patch, however, players will get a taste of optimizations that are made to make the game “flow a bit better,” as per Lenton.

With Modern Warfare 2 quietly creeping around launch day in a few weeks, I’m wondering whether or not players will still be interested in playing Operation Flashpoint. Both are good military games – but everyone knows which one holds more anticipation.
