Already Tired Of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I have been playing Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2 since it hit stores. I am about level 55 at this point, and to me it feels I have not completed one single thing. I beaten the game which was fulfilling, and now the multiplayer is all that stands in my way. So many guns, so many secondary weapons, so many perks, but too many too unlock. It hurts me when I say that I actually stopped midway of a game, not because I was getting raped from behind with bullets, but from the thrill in which it is now lacking.
What happened? There was so much hype to the game. The graphics and storyline are awesome and multiplayer is just better to boot. It is a better game than its predecessor. If this is all true in my viewpoint, why am I still tired of this game? Maybe it is the overwhelming amount of things to complete in multiplayer, the challenges, the unlockables, even the play lists. In the original Modern Warfare game we complained there were not enough things to unlock and complete. Now it feels like there is a complete reversal of what people are complaining about now. Hurray that Infinity Ward created more maps for us to start with, because they owed that to their fans for their mistake in the first one. But when every single gun, perk, and attachment needs to be unlocked, the saying “That’s too much Bob” from the Price Is Right takes effect.
I feel as though Infinity ward wants me to stay and play this game forever if I were to try and go for my tenth prestige. I have accepted the fact that by the time I prestige to where I want to be, I will have children. If you were thinking it, no I am not old. Let’s get into detail as to why I have beliefs like these. Some guns have the Marksman 6 to unlock, where you have to kill 500 enemies with it. Isn’t that a lot to ask for? Didn’t the last game only have a maximum of 150 kills just to max out the gun’s stats? Sure I know I am good, but what about the rest of the gamers out there. Some are really good and can do that easily like me, and some really will have a tough time, and will accept the fact easier that they will get no where with that game. Even if you are good, the time it takes to get 500 kills is strenuous. It either will take many days, or maybe a few sabotage matches if you are really good. I can say the same thing when it comes to fulfilling pro status on perks, even obtaining new attachments to your gun.
I do realize one thing though. If I were to play this game again, which I will, I will have the mind set that I will just play for fun, play with my friends, and try to go for a winning streak. If I make it to prestige then I make it. Will I try to go for another? Perhaps, but I am not counting on it. By the way, to those who think I am bashing this game, crawl back into your holes because I am a patriot to this game, and as a patriot, I will admit it when it has flaws. I’m still young, and there is so much more for me to do out there. I am not getting sucked into this game. A great game, but “That’s too much Bob!”.

im only level 42 and i feel the same, i think its because.. yes there is tonnes of cool weapons and unlocks, but after playing for awhile(after coming from cod4) its basically the same! all the bad habbits people used to hate are showing up and it seems like ive basically been given a super mappack and abit more.. spawn camping still happens! grenade spamming still happens! people runing a few feet extra than cod 4 before they grenade launch you in a hardcore search and destroy and connectiong issues dont seem to be much different either so far lol, i find it quite frustrating to be honest(and no i dont suck i have a ratio of 1.67 so im not awful haha) i dunno its just gone..

the same night that i played this game i felt this way. i love the game but i found myself going back to uncharted a little to early. and not from either being a bad game just seems that cod has run its run and even with all the cool things that it does it all the same as every single call of duty after 4.

Everyone is good at MW2. Not many will get discouraged by the amount of kills to unlock attachments. People love the whole progression gimmick, makes them feel a sense of accomplishment. With all the unlocks, the casual gamer will have a reason to play more. I understand how this can affect people who enjoy clan warring because it may make things off balance for people who can’t play 24/7, but MW2 is clearly built for the casual gamer and clan support isn’t really there in the first place.

I think your right, sometimes a lot is too much and maybe they overdid it. I think what should matter is that you should have fun playing it and not be encouraged to unlock all these different perks and what not.Why would you be able to access these weapons in the single player and not the multiplayer? what is the point of unlocking them because it puts the better players in an even better position to win a match while little Ben on level one is shooting it out with a pistol, Greg on the other hand has a monsterous gun that can kill you with one bullet. What if it was the other way round? the higher the level you were, the more limited your arsnel because i mean….hell…. your ment to be good at level 125 right? it sounds stupid but so does giving better players (or people who play it more) better weapons. I play Uncharted 2 online and that has all the weapons from the single player. It might not be the best multiplayer experience but it feels good, you enjoy it and that’s why you should be playing it.

how did they owe more maps and then deliver? mw2 shipped with 16 maps did it not? the same number as cod4. I agree though im already getting a little tired of the multiplayer, its just an upgrade of 4, a very good upgrade but i played cod4 to death for almost 2 years.

@TheFlyingToaster i think because the maps are bigger this time around, and the fact that for the whole time cod4 was out there was only 1 map pack(which is kind of lame)
and yeah i played it for like half a year ALOT so now it does just feel like a massive updgrade!

All the unlocks and extra stuff is great, it’s just that 70 ranks is way too much, I am a good player but that still is too much, I think 60 would be perfect, I’ll still do it but it begins to feel a bit too much like a chore rather than fun.

i don’t like the changes IW made to attract the casuals, that and the fact that ,sadly, mw2 didn’t live up to the hype(at least for me). Too much of the game feels old and ‘done-before’, trailers tricked me into thinking that the gfx had been improved substantially =.= and i’m just not having fun. I’ll give it another go next week, will have to trade it in if things don’t change coz i find myself playing UC2 multiplayer more often and i really regret not getting A Crack in Time ;(

haha this post fails. how do you become lvl 55 and say that this game is overhyped and lacking. Me thinks your just joining the bandwagon of negative press trying to bring down a game that made history in entertainment. Quite the act cause we all know this is the only FPS your gonna be playing for another 2 years just like COD4.

im feeling most of you guys suck anyways lol. Eight ball you think the ranking of 70 is too high? Most of the players of MW prestige 6 times and the max in MW2 is 10. Your just a noob who plays a lil bit and stops cause you suck. Quit the game and move on to Viva Pinata or something, just so we can have less whining on this site. Which i dont really care since this site sucks. Only went on this site to win the Prestige edition of MW2

OK sorry for spamming but i actually forced myself to read past this articles 1st paragraph and after doing so this just proves this guy is lame at the game and just trying to add to the noobs trying to bring down this incredible game. Hmmmmm don’t we do this to all the games we love??? Yet your willing to go back to something that doesnt appeal to you much anymore? If you dont like it why would u go back to it? You said it yourself, you beat the single player mode and lvl’d to 55 which takes times. So its CONFIMED that you enjoy n love this game but you want more people like me to look at your pathetic site and give you viewers

The latency issues are ridiculous, don’t forget that. I’m tired of unloading a enough rounds to kill someone TWICE, only to have them turn around and kill me seconds later. And watching my deathcam shows, to him, I only shot him once.

I guess one can say that COD4 was indeed the pinnacle of gaming. And just like many sequels it may be too much or not enough in this case its a catch 22. There is much more to unlock and explore, yet the annoying playability is still there.

Thanks for all the comments guys. To sum it all up, I do love the game, and I just got done playing it some more, but to accomplish what I did in the first MW compared to this game was nothing. This game takes the cake when it comes to 40+ hour gameplay, just to prestige once. And to do it ten times…nono I can not see myself doing that. So I see myself going to game nights to play with my friends, going to tournaments, and just having a ball with this game. I gave up my true goal to the game, and it makes me sad, but in reality, it would make me feel worse if I didn’t give up.

just play the game whenever you feel like playing it. Dont worry about the upgrades if you don’t want to. Me? i love checking out the options and driving towards it… i think the online is the best I’ve ever played, and if your getting sick of it, try some third person or Hardcore matches where u have to creep a lot more, try some new guns, like if you never snipe, pick one up and try to get good with it, play some capture the flag…
There are so many ways to play this game and SO many game modes, so how the hell can you be getting board? i don’t get it…

My thoughts are the same as yours,blog writer. I do truly think that Call Of Duty has had it hay day. We experienced COD MP in Modern Warfare with COD4. We experienced COD MP in World War 2 with World at War. Modern Warfare comes back for a second run and i feel that it is too much of the same thing we experienced in 2007.
Next year maybe different. If Treyarch are planning Call of Duty in Vietnam &/or Cold War 1970s & 80s like rumoured we may see things put back to what they where, MP side, in WAW which, too me, is good. WAW had the perfect MP for me and maybe next year if Treyarch set things back to what they where in WAW, which to me is a good thing cos, for me, MW2 was over hyped. I was interested at first but then you see all the tons of stuff that you can do and as i say it feels more like the same thing we experienced in 2007.

campaign only goes for 5 hours and is boring and repetitive, and online is restricted to 9V9.

I can’t say I fully agree with you in this article.
I bought this game release, and I play on PC (inb4 lol IW screwed PC) but I am now level 38 and I still like the game. Although the single player was fresh, it was short and felt as if it were just there so the game could have a single player component.
Multiplayer to me just feels fun. I realize how tedious it will be to get to 10th prestige level 70, but to be honest, I love the engine (it actually renders bullets as projectiles), I love the maps, and I love the game modes.
I suppose it’ll eventually get boring, but as of now, it’s only been about a week and the game still feels fresh to me. Take a break, play some Left 4 Dead 2 and then come back to this game.
