White Knight Chronicles Receives NA Release Date

White Knight Chronicles has been out in Japan for about a year.  I was beginning to wonder if we’d ever see it in other territories, since we haven’t heard a whole lot about it.  Have no fear, though, Sony is on top of things!  Today they announced on the PlayStation blog an official release date for the international version of the game – White Knight Chronicles: International Edition.  It will be released in North America on February 2, 2010.  A European release date will be forthcoming (although it’s odd that this is an “international” release, but will only be available in North America at this point).

The International Edition of the game includes everything the Japanese version has – as in a localized copy of the entire game – plus extras that didn’t ship on the Japanese game disc.  Here’s a list of what to expect in addition to the entire original game.

  • Over 50 disc-based quests, which can be completed solo or cooperatively.  If you work with others it appears you get better gear and more experience.
  • Voice chat.
  • The Georama (as in, Dark Cloud?!) – as system which is used to build an online village that can be your base of operations when you work with friends to complete quests.
  • Live talk.  In other words, more conversations between the characters while you’re out and about during game play, which helps us get to the the characters better and make running around the world less tedious.

I’ve been looking forward to this game for quite a while, it’s just a shame it is going to hit stores barely a month before Final Fantasy XIII.  Hopefully that won’t hamper White Knight Chronicles, as the game is really shaping up to be an interesting experience.

I got to play this at E3 (in English), I was losing faith lol. I can’t wait for this title! The character creation is so much fun in that game lol.

Yeah, I’m really looking forward to it, as well. Although it bums me out that it’s taken this long to localize and little things like DualShock 3 rumble support and a Japanese language track hasn’t been included in the International release.

Still, looks like something to tide me over between Mass Effect 2 and FFXIII. ;)
