New Quantum Theory Screens Are All Sorts of Hot

Tecmo Koei’s upcoming third-person shooter is looking pretty hot, wouldn’t you agree? Check out the screens after the break for a glimpse of the visuals. This has so many things in common with Final Fantasy XIII. I mean, both games are more action-oriented, both games have a sleek, Japanese visual style that I love and both games have a world named “Cocoon”. Now, if only Square-Enix was publishing, right? Okay, back to Quantum Theory. Yeah, it is looking great. Will the story stand up? Only time will tell.

Or are you still heading right to multiplayer to work on your quest to be the next MLG pro gamer?

New Two Worlds II Videos Are a Good Laugh

Ages ago the tale of the evil side-kick Sordahon began, but it continues when he is looking for a job after the conclusion to Two Worlds. SouthPeak shows the world once again that they are not stiffs and know how to have a good time with some fun and games. In the following videos Two Worlds II (developed by Reality Pump) makes fun of its predecssor a little and Sordahon looks for a new job outside of the gaming industry. We Get Enslaved… And We Like It.

That’s the best way to describe our experience with Enslaved, the upcoming action adventure title from Namco Bandai. At a recent press event in NYC, our very own Al Zamora had the privilege of chatting it up with Ryan Adza who is the associate producer for the title. Ryan breaks down the story for those of you who aren’t already familiar with it, as well as what to expect when the title lands on store shelves this October. One of the main characters is named “Monkey”, isn’t that enough incentive to give it a look? Check out the full video interview below and witness why you, like us, may enjoy being Enslaved. Catering to the Casual Crowd: How MS failed at E3 2010

E3 has always been THE industry event prime for showcasing new hardware, services and of course games. Microsoft is not new to the showcase, remaining strong contenders since the announcement of the original Halo on Xbox in 2001. From the tech demo of Halo 2 in 2003 to the appearance of the first HD Gaming console in 2005. However, it is practically universally agreed that the Microsoft conference at E3 2010 had very little appeal to the fan base that the Xbox has worked so hard to amass. Alienation to some and sacrilege to others, the star of the show was Kinect; a motion control device.

The industry’s current infatuation with motion control gaming is openly seen as a clever (or not so clever) ploy to divert the attention of the “casual” gamer from Nintendo’s very successful Wii console. It has been common knowledge for some time now that both Sony and MS are developing their own approach to motion control gaming, the Move and Kinect respectively. But to take the world’s largest annual industry platform, at which many of gaming’s biggest showcases have occurred, and focus on this single, controversial piece of hardware as the centerpiece has left many fans, myself included, shaking their fist in the air and wondering what the heck happened.

Return to Kagutsuchi: BlazBlue: Contiuum Shift Launches Today

Fans of last year’s breakout HD 2D fighting masterpiece BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger can finally get their hands on the highly anticipated sequel. While it was decidedly out-shined by either Tekken 6 or Street Fighter 4, the underground cult of fighting aficionados, the ones who played Guilty Gear knew who the true victor was. With glitteringly detailed sprites, wild and frenzied combat, the best online component of any fighter at the time, characters tweaked to balance perfection and a story mode so deep it set a new standard for stories in fighting games, BlazBlue successfully became a benchmark title for the genre. The difficulty curve was just high enough. No button masher would get too far against you after only a few hours of practicing. Weeks of devote training put you above the rest, while still miles below the best.

The follow-up to Ark System Works’ gem looks to one up its predecessor with a host of new modes, characters, stages, tracks and engaging stories which the original has spoiled us to. AKSYS has also promised that existing characters would be rebalanced with added attacks, drives and distortion drives. Sweetening the deal even more is the reduced price point. In the vein of Super Street Fighter 4, this title is available new for $39.99, so you can keep a whole twenty in your wallet. If you haven’t played the first game which I’ve just spent so much time praising (shame on you!), you can pick up a new copy of it for around twenty bucks and a used copy even cheaper. For those of us who’ve been there and been doing that since this time last year, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift comes out today.

The Clash Of The Titans Video Game is Available Now

Surely you’ve seen Clash of the Titans; a recent blockbuster featuring horrific giant monsters, stunning special effects and 3D viewing options. It was based on a film of the same name from decades earlier, and all in all, it was pretty big. Gamers concurred that the movie brought video game titles like God of War to mind, and it went without saying that the movie could make a seamless transition to consoles. This is even truer when you consider how many movie-game crossovers that didn’t seem like a good idea. Well that concept has finally come to fruition as today marks the release of The Clash of the Titans video game. Developed by Game Republic and published by WBIE, Clash of the Titans is set to become a must by for fans of the movie. If you haven’t seen the movie or didn’t care for it, you should still give this game a look because it provides an epic adventure that is able to exceed the film in how it engages the viewer (player). Also because everyone knows that games are fifty times more engaging than even the most exciting film. Clash of the Titans is available at retailers as of July 27th.
