Deathloop is finally here and is full of mind-bending mysteries and twists, littered throughout the game's story.

As players relive protagonist Colt's life over and over and over again, they will be faced with some things that are certain to cause confusion.

One of the game's early mysteries revolves around a range of random items and objects that glow.

In this guide, we break down exactly what the glowing items and objects are in Deathloop and what you can do with them to help your adventure.

What Are The Glowing Items and Objects in Deathloop?

BEWARE - FROM THIS POINT FORWARD THERE WILL BE SOME MINOR SPOILERS FOR DEATHLOOP.

The glowing items that you see littered around the various locales in Deathloop are imbued with Residuum. The objects can be anything from a car tyre to a book and can be found across any of the locations you visit as Colt throughout the game.

This is a special material that will have a lot of use as you make more runs throughout the game.

What Does Residuum Do?

BEWARE - THIS SECTION HAS SLIGHTLY LARGER SPOILERS THAN THE ONE BEFORE.

Residuum is a material that Colt can harvest which allows items to be carried over from one loop to the next. That means, when you inevitably die, you won't be left empty-handed when you wake up once again.

This can be harvested after you take down the first Visionary, Dr. Wenjie Evans, for the first time.

Once you have taken them down, there will be some simple tasks to follow and then you'll be able to harvest the Residuum using the Square Button on your DualSense controller.
