Capping off a terrific PlayStation PS5 Showcase we got a real showstopper -- God of War 2 was teased with a release date of 2021. While there was no actual footage of the game, having Kratos end the party is one of the best way to end any conference. Though little is known about the title other than the prospective launch window, we can already mark our calendars for more god on god action.

The teaser, seen below, is pretty bare-bones -- think the Metroid Prime 4 teaser from years back. However, the fact that we know the release date out the gate is indicative that both Sony and Santa Monica Studios is pretty confident of the launch. And while I would have loved to see a cinematic trailer, I guess they need to leave some surprises for post-launch. See the trailer below:

As you can see, it ends off with "Ragnarok is Coming" -- confirming what otherwise know from the ending of the original God of War.

One thing that remains unclear is what exactly the glowing runes mean -- is there a deeper meaning? Is this the rabbit hole to an ARG? If you have any idea, let us know in the comments below.

God of War 2 is currently slated for a 2021 release on PS5, though no other details are known. Keep your eye on DualShockers for more information as it becomes available.
