Over the years, The Pokemon Company has released some interestingly designed Legendary Pokemon and Virizion, Cobalion and Terrakion certainly fit that bill.

The Swords of Justice, as they are known, are a group of quadrupedal Legendaries that are based on the famed Three Musketeers.

As with every other previous Legendary that has appeared in Pokemon GO, the group returns to Five-Star Raids at this year's GO Fest.

However, are Virizion, Cobalion and Terrakion good and should you spend your time (and Raid Passes) on them this weekend? Let's take a look.

Can Virizion, Cobalion and Terrakion be Shiny in Pokemon GO and What are the Odds of Encountering One?

The good news is that all three of these Pokemon can be Shiny in Pokemon GO.

They're some of the more recent additions to the game, with Cobalion's Shiny Form being added last March and Virizion/Terrakion joining a couple of months later in May.

Of the three, Virizion undergoes the most striking change, swapping its green colour palette for a pink one.

Terrakion is the second most changed, adding a splash of colour to its usual dull self and finally, Cobalion effectively just turns a darker shade of blue.

As the trio are Legendaries, players can expect 1 in 20 odds of encountering them, should they be successful in raids.

Is Virizion Good in Pokemon GO? What's its Best Moveset?

I don't know why, but I have a strange attachment to Virizion. Sadly, that doesn't make it a decent Pokemon.

According to PVPoke, Virizion is the 70th best option currently available in the Ultra League. While it does pick up solid wins against some of the usual suspects including Melmetal, Venusaur and Registeel, there are other better options out there.

Virizion then slips to 82nd place when it comes to the Master League. When powered up to level 50, it may have some niche usage, beating Yveltal, Garchom, Groudon and Kyogre, however, it's still a limited Pokemon.

If you're going to brave it, the best moveset is:

  • Fast Move - Quick Attack
  • Charge Move - Leaf Blade
  • Charge Move - Close Combat

Is Cobalion Good in Pokemon GO? What's its Best Moveset?

Cobalion is outperformed by Virizion in the Ultra League, with the Steel/Fighting-type Pokemon down in 158th place.

While it's outperformed in the Ultra League, Cobalion overtakes Virizion in the Master League, ranking in 56th. Again, it'd be risky to use, however, it does pick up wins against Dialga, Togekiss and Kyurem, so there's a bit of merit there.

If you decide to go with Cobalion, you'll want to use:

  • Fast Move - Metal Claw
  • Charge Move - Stone Edge
  • Charge Move - Sacred Sword*

*Requires the use of an Elite Charged TM.

Is Terrakion Good in Pokemon GO? What's its Best Moveset?

Unfortunately, Terrakion is the worst of the three, by a significant margin.

PVPoke suggests that it's the 412th best Pokemon in the Ultra League, ranking below Gligar, Mr. Mime, Sawk, Sunflora and Venomoth.

It certainly performs better in the Master League, beating both Lugia and Ho-Oh, as well as Gyarados, but it still comes in at a paltry 106th place. The definition of a 'dex filler.

If you're intent on using it, Terrakion's best moveset is:

  • Fast Move - Smack Down
  • Charge Move - Close Combat
  • Charge Move - Rock Slide
