Adding to the huge cast of Marvel characters, including Spider-Man and Scarlet Witch, Deadpool and his "The Good, the Bad, and the Undead" is the first official DLC for Marvel's Midnight Suns. On the battlefield, The Merc With a Mouth has plenty to say, of course, but he mostly is a damage dealer with some unique mechanics and his own healing regeneration. His card kit is full of hilarious antics, and his presence makes for a unique dynamic when added into the mix with the other base-game characters.

Apart from the DLC's other added enemies, levels, and battle mechanics, watching Wade Wilson give Maximum Effort in The Abbey brings the fresh feeling of a zany new roommate to the game. For instance, Deadpool worships Captain Marvel, wants to be BFF with Wolverine, and thinks Spider-Man stole his costume. Getting Wade Wilson's mid-battle mechanics to work well isn't easy, though. So, here's a quick guide to the best build for Deadpool.

How This Build Works

Marvel's Midnight Suns deadpool

Showcasing his supernatural healing ability, Staying Alive is the name of Deadpool's first passive ability. This gives Deadpool passive healing each turn and can be upgraded to increase the amount. Instead of Ghost Rider's Soul Collector, as the Merc With a Mouth, Deadpool gets bonus damage to his abilities from stacking KO's. In fact, his whole card kit is built around the "Mercenary" mechanic, where more KO's permanently increases the damage of Wade's other abilities, aka En Fuego.

Like Ghost Rider, En Fuego makes Deadpool uniquely suited to aim for the killing blow on as many enemies as possible. His play style needs to be balanced around spending cards like Pain Piñata, Spread the Love, and Overpowered on 1-hit grunts to build up the damage in his other abilities. Once he has enough KO's, Deadpool will start to do some major damage with every card, but Mag Dump and Burning Sensation are Wade Wilson's big damage cards that should be focused on high-HP targets. Early in a match, try to focus on using Deadpool's low-damage cards to knock out the low-level enemies. Aim for building up his effectiveness for later, and use Staying Alive and Hey #^*face! to survive long enough to get through to later rounds.

Best Team-Ups

Marvel's Midnight Suns deadpool, captain america, and scarlet witch

In Midnight Suns, Deadpool is a damage character that ramps up his effectiveness as time goes on. So, he will always do well in a standard tank-support-damage-type strike team. He has some weaker defensive stats that are offset by his healing passive, which gives him health back each turn, and a few of his abilities, like Hey #^*face!, which can supply him with Resist. However, Wade Wilson can get focused down on the battlefield quickly if players don't take action to help.

Deadpool's Staying Alive helps keep him alive, but it's a slow-ticking ability that won't always keep him safe. So to help, try pairing Deadpool with tanks like Captain America and Hulk, who can taunt enemies away, and supports like Doctor Strange, Nico, and Hunter. Bringing healing boosts like Combat Items can also be a good inclusion with Deadpool because enemies will be trying to focus him down pretty often. However, if he can stack up a few KOs throughout a match, Deadpool's skills as a paid gun will take over, and his damage will start going through the roof.
