PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been testing a new team deathmatch-style mode called War Mode on their custom server. Developers PUBG Corp. hopes to roll out the new mode to players as an Event Mode in the coming future.

PUBG forums detail that War Mode will allow for respawning, feature an immediately set safe zone and also feature a minimum four-man squad for team play and combat. No longer will you be surviving alone in this Battle Royale-inspired world!

The objective of War Mode is to earn 80 points within the squad. Points can be earned with revives, kills, DBNOs (Down-But-Not-Outs) and Team Kills/Team DBNOs. Players will be able to respawn from the airplane at a default interval of 60 seconds with an SMG default. Care packages will also make an appearance in this mode, and the safe zone will be static, though this and many other settings can be tweaked in custom games.

As of right now, only partnered Twitch streamers, YouTubers and members of the PUBG development team have access to this custom game mode, though anyone can join it with the proper invite. Once the developers are satisfied with their testing of the new mode, it will likely be rolled out in the coming months, though no definitive date has been set thus far.

PUBG was released December 20, 2017 on PC and Xbox One, and then released on mobile earlier this year. You can check out our review of the game here or grab the battle royale game on PC or Xbox One via Amazon.
