New Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI Remakes Stalled Indefinitely
Siliconera reports that Square Enix has put the Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI remakes on hold. Citing technical issues with the Nintendo DS, which are as of yet unknown in detail, Square Enix has revealed that these titles are being considered for production and were perhaps attempted recently but are currently at a stand still. This news should come as hopeful yet cautious to Final Fantasy fans hoping for a remake of the epic saga that is Final Fantasy VI (known as III in the United States). While this report likely means we will not see these remakes fleshed out soon, the fact that their development is currently “undecided” means it could still be possible, perhaps for the upcoming Nintendo *3DS next year (*pending name).

Views: 171iPad International Launch Delayed Until End of May
At this given moment, Apple fans outside the US reading this news are sobbing and thrashing their personal belongings in a delirious craze. During its first week in the market, Apple’s iPad managed to sell over half a million units which has “stumped” Apple. To respond to this so-called “surprising” barrage of sales, and in anticipation of even higher demand for the tablet, Apple has delayed the international launch of the device from the ending of April to late May. But it’s not set in stone, per se.
International enthusiasts will have no choice but to wait until May 10 before getting word of when exactly the iPad will be made available for purchase, and the price in which the newly released Apple product will be sold for. I haven’t gotten hands-on time with the iPad yet. But I’m probably going to wait until some Asian country makes a much cheaper and unreliable knock-off of the iPad before even pondering about coughing up 500 bucks for a tablet that does less than a netbook. Sorry, Apple fans – I just prefer to waste my money a bit more wisely.

For gamers who have been waiting a long time for one of the most talked about titles to spring up in a while for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems, DualShockers regrets to inform you that your wait just grew! Originally Tecmo Koei’s original IP Quantum Theory was originally shown to the world in 2008 and immediately its momentum as a possibly great game began to build in snowballing proportions. However, many people feel this game may be a bit rough around the edges while some simply label it a Gears of War clone and call it a day. Read on for when to expect this monstrously speculated title to actually arrive.
Views: 399BlazBlue Gets One Week Delay in UK
BlazBlue is one sexy 2D fighter; probably one of the best fighters I’ve played recently, to be honest. This is one of those times when I sit back on my comfortable chair whilst writing this post, point my finger, and laugh at the folks over in the UK as they feel the suffering that we in the states feel when they get those unfathomable sets we don’t (e.g. God of War III Trilogy). Although I’m not too sure how many UK gamers are fans of this genre, and this might come back to bite me in the ass, it’s probably one of the only times in a while where I’ll be able to do this. No matter, though. You’re still going to get the game…
BlazBlue was set to release on March 26, but was set back to April 2 in the UK. Retailer GAME posted an updated listing for the game, and the publisher, Zen United, has confirmed the date in response to Joystiq.
Although the UK release for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of BlazBlue have been moved to April 2, the Xbox 360 version will still release everywhere else in Europe on March 26. The PlayStation 3 version will land across Europe on April 2 as well.
Views: 119Delay for Red Dead Redemption
An April release has turned into a May delay for RockStar Games’ Red Dead Redemption. There was no reason announced for the delay. The North American release date is now May 18. The European release remains unchanged and on target for a May 21 release.
There are certain words that just seem to sound right when put together in the same sentence. Some examples are Megan Fox and the word hot, DualShockers writers and awesome, and Gran Turismo and delay. Wait what? Did I just sat Gran Turismo and delay? Yeah, I think I did. In a very surprising move (notice the sarcasm) by Sony , it has come to our knowledge that Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3 will in fact be delayed. The news comes from Kotaku’s Japan based editor, Brian Ashcraft. Whether or not this delay is for all territories is unknown, however usually when games produced in Japan are delayed there, they are also delayed everywhere else. I am sure this comes as a blow to many, but think about it like this, it’s probably a good thing that it doesn’t release in a very crowded Winter/early Spring window. Not that it would get overshadowed by those other titles, but it will definitely help sales of the title. Here’s to hoping other games do not suffer a similar fate.

Views: 23Guitar Hero Van Halen Delayed On PS3
You’ve probably been sitting in front of your PS3 rocking your ass out to Guitar Hero 5, and noticing one thing: uh, you don’t have your free copy of Guitar Hero: Van Halen. What is up with that, you ask? Here’s some news. *Looks about, and whispers* While every other console is getting their groove on with Van Halen, you PS3 owners are getting shafted with an apologetic email as to why you have yet to receive your copy of the freebie. Here’s part of that email, folks:
“Unfortunately, we made a printing error on the package of Guitar Hero Van Halen. Fortunately, we caught and remedied the error prior to sending your disc. Our effort to ensure a completely positive customer experience has resulted in a slight delay in shipping your copy of the game.”
We know you’ve been practicing your arses off in readying for the Van Halen game, but, as per Activision, they’ll be mailing the games out sometime this week; meaning that you might be getting your copy – praying there isn’t anymore “printing errors” – next week.
If anyone has any idea what this printing error was, please let us know so that we can ridicule Activision for it. Pretty please. We promise to send you a crate full of that school chocolate milk everyone used to love. And we all know how that that is.
Views: 5Rumor: God of War: Collection Has Been Delayed
While rummaging through GameStop’s website and looking ahead for what was coming for us in 2010, we stumbled upon a little surprise that might just upset a couple of God of War fans. Well, at least those who were expecting God of War: Collection next month, that is.
As per GameStop, God of War: Collection will be shipping on March 6, 2010. Why the sudden push? We have no clue, but bet your butt we will be contacting folks left and right to get some answers and to confirm on this sudden stealthy delay.
For those of you who aren’t aware, God of War: Collection is the remastered version of both God of War and God of War II for the PlayStation 2. When I say “remastered,” I mean 720p resolution (HD, for the not so intelligent folk), high-res textures, and all that nifty stuff that will make the game look sweet on your HD set. What better way to re-experience – or experience for the first time, if you’ve never played the series – than going through it with pleasing high-def visuals. If you thought the originals looked good, get ready to have your eyes orgasm for the first time.
I know how you guys are feeling, believe me. The Collection was so close and, just like that, it’s gone – the remastered HD edition of the original PlayStation 2 series, gone… Well, at least it’s only a couple of months awa– Never mind. That’s not even a good thing.
*Update*
The rumor has been debunked and proven false. It was an error on GameStop’s behalf, and the issue with the release date has now been fixed.
Views: 233Confirmed: Alpha Protocal Pushed to 2010
A few week’s back, there had been mixed reports about Sega’s upcoming Espionage/Action RPG being delayed. Most people noticed it, through online retailers Amazon (Canada) and Gamestop listing it with an anticipated release date of July 2010. Today, thanks to Sega’s official site, it has now been confirmed to release in Spring 2010. You can look at that in 2 ways, glad that it wasn’t delayed all the way until July, or pissed that it was delayed to begin with. Either way, we’ll all be rocking out some Alpha Protocol next year.
Views: 6Modern Warfare 2 PC Pushed to Novermber 24th
European PC gamers who were anticipating the release of Modern Warfare 2 around the same time as their console counterparts will probably want a pillow to bite on or to scream into – and I mean this in the most non-homosexual way. You’ve read the headline, but if you’re encourage to read what I have to say, then continue reading, my friends.
The PC version of the successor to one of the most played FPS’s, Modern Warfare 2, will be MIA for a couple of weeks, according to Electronic Theater. The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 has been pushed back in Europe to November 24 as apposed to the once slated November 10th, which once coincided with the console release dates.
The confirmation comes from a recent Activision-Blizzard release schedule which depicts every version of the game scheduled for their November 10th release date except, of course, the PC version. Whether or not this push will affect the North American release for the PC version is questionable; but we’re pretty confident that it’s coming.
I do feel bad for PC folks. But, those two weeks of holding off sure pays off with the higher resolution textures and higher framerates your monster will be pumping out while losers like us will be playing the intense campaign mode and engaging in gripping multiplayer and co-op gameplay on our inferior consoles. /endSarcasm
Views: 17Rumor: Alpha Protocol Delayed – Maybe Until 2010
I have some pretty bad news for the folks who’ve been itching for a taste of Sega’s espionage RPG Alpha Protocol. Apparently, the game is undergoing a delay in which the exact time frame has yet to be disclosed. Last time we heard, Alpha Protocol was supposed to be released next week, October 6th – a release date that seemed unlikely for quite a bit as a bunch of retailers have since pushed the game’s release date to late October. The craziest crap of all, though, is that retailers such as GameStop have changed the release date to June 1, 2010, and Amazon Canada t0 simply “2010.” The North American division of Amazon has yet to make any changes, but we’re expecting to see them soon.
Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of the game, is forwarding any and all requests for comment to Sega which, as everyone knows with past Sega “commenting”, means that they aren’t going to utter a sound. Complete silence is their motto when it comes to things like this. In the event that Sega decides to break their biblical rule of silence, we’ll make sure that you’re all updated with what the frak is really going on here. Next year? Talk about a cock-tease. Sheesh.
With the fall promising a ridiculous amount of spending on games, I believe that it’s only fair for some developers/publishers to feel a tad sorry for our wallets and make certain adjustments for our recovery. In this sense, I thank Activision.
Activision has pushed back the November release of its new racing IP, Blur, into 2010. The game, the first for the publisher from the Project Gotham studio Bazarre Creations, is being delayed for the team to work further on its online multiplayer modes. There’s no problem in polishing up the multiplayer aspects of a game – better for the gamers.
“We are committed to making Blur a great new racing franchise, and we are very encouraged by the game’s design,” stated Mike Griffith, president and CEO of Activision Publishing.
“The additional time will allow the studio to fully optimise the vision they set out to create for Blur including a distinctive and groundbreaking multiplayer mode that will appeal to a broad audience.”
Blur is the latest in a number of games being pushed away from the Christmas frenzy that will occur this year – two of them already being Activision IPs – Modern Warfare 2 and DJ Hero. I don’t think it’s as fun to compete with yourself, right Activision?
