Supreme Commander 2 Demo Available Now!

Today the Supreme Commander 2 demo is available through Steam!  This sequel to the original Supreme Commander, that revolutionized Real-Time Strategy games, and highly anticipated by over head strategic online multiplayer gamers.  We can only hope the original innovations made to this massive, real-time command of war have remained in the sequel.  In Supreme Commander players experienced complex strategic situations, commanding armies of up to 1,000 units per player with streamlined and practically perfected control of all units at once; land, sea, and air with 4 tiers of units in each class. An achievement unchallenged by recent Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 games, which limit players to around 50 units at a time.  Read more to learn about the upcoming title, and get linked to the demo.

Aliens Vs Predator Demo Out Tomorrow

Who is ready to blast some aliens apart? Well, get your aiming thumbs ready, because tomorrow we will be getting a demo of SEGA’s new Aliens vs Predator. You will be able to download it from Xbox Live, Steam or the Playstation Store.

The demo will feature all 3 species – Alien, Predator, Human – but only in the refinery level with deathmatch settings. Personally, I could care less. I just want to run around and spear some people like in Predator 2. The game is scheduled for a February 16th release in the States. Also, since this was such a rumored happening I got a little bit more evidence for the skeptics. The pic below was taken from AvPGalaxy

DSi Motion Control Demo Video

Engine Software, a Netherlands-based handheld gaming studio, has developed technology for the DSi which will change the way handhelds are played. The tech? Motion sensitivity. The company has developed a very brief video of TILT which shows off the new technology in action. Just a fair warning, please forgive the atrocious music. It definitely gives off a “cheesy” sound – kind of like those composed in B movies.

Engine Software is also currently working on a full DSiWare game that will incorporate this motion sensing technology. The video is nifty, disgusting music aside. Wondering when this new tech will come into play on the DSi? So are we. We will keep you posted as news comes in.

Dark Void Demo Out This Week

Capcom wants you all to know that tomorrow (Wednesday the 7th) need to get your asses to the XBL marketplace (or PSN store on the 8th) and download the demo for their upcoming Sci-Fi title Dark Void. Ever wanted to strap on a Jet pack and get silly? Well here’s your chance. This upcoming space epic will be in stores next week, and with so many titles releasing in such a short time fram it only makes sense to try before you buy. If you are so lazy that downloading a demo is the equivalent to running a lap, then just stay tuned for our demo impressions tomorrow night.

About Dark Void

Dark Void is a sci-fi action-adventure game that combines an adrenaline-fuelled blend of aerial and ground-pounding combat. Set in a parallel universe called “The Void,” players take on the role of Will, a pilot dropped into incredible circumstances within the mysterious Void. This unlikely hero soon finds himself swept into a desperate struggle for survival, joining forces with a rebel human group called The Survivors. Trapped in the Void, these resistance fighters are battling to hold off a mysterious alien race that plans to threaten Earth.

Dark Void’s unique combination of jetpack-booster aerial dog fighting and third-person combat creates a thrilling new gameplay dynamic to the third-person shooter experience. Taking 3D action to a whole new level, Dark Void’s unique vertical combat system allows players to dangle from thousand foot drops as they take cover and hurl enemies to their doom, bringing a whole new sense of tension and thrill to the player. Will is also equipped with a powerful rocket pack which allows for fierce in-air combat, hurtling through the Void at blistering speeds while shooting down anything that gets in his path.

God of War III E3 Demo Impressions

One word to describe it…

Re-goddamn-diculous.

It’s fantastic.

pressannc04

Gameplay, is as always in a GoW game, amazing action. From running the Blades of Chaos into an harpy then ripping it in half as you jump to the next or ripping out a Cyclops’s eye, the standard GoW formula is ever-present and excellent. The last section is a set piece where Kratos uses the Icarus Wings to ascend through a cavern, which was amazingly well done. It was one of the last things I expected, to see Kratos fly, literally hundreds of feet in the air. Throughout the entire demo I was on the edge of my seat, oblivious to my surroundings…I missed a call that I never heard. That’s how much I was enjoying this demo. Additionally, they re-did the quick time event button display to correspond to the controller more. An example, you are fighting a 2 headed beast with a serpent for a tail, you enter the quick time event, instead of flashing X in the middle of the screen, it’s at the bottom of the screen and lights up the entire bottom of the screen, for square it does the same thing except to the left, and the same for triangle and O. I thought that was a nice addition and really helps you focus on what is happening on screen as opposed to staring at a spot waiting for a button to pop up.

The colours, Duke! THE COLORS!

Graphics, Oh my lord, the graphics. I would say they’re definitely on par with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves or even better. The lighting effects are insane, in one section you’re walking through a secret cavern and you’re attacked. The only light is from the blades of chaos as you swing them around attempting to rip your enemies in half. Also, there is one part where you have to open a huge door with large statues next to it, which stands out to me because the scene looks bloody amazing! Honestly, if there was a high def screenshot, I would frame it because it looks like a piece of art.

Sounds. Definitely damn good, to the wet slapping sound of the Cestus smashing into someone’s skull to the war-crazed yells of the Ghost of Sparta the sound is right there. I was impressed with the very well done sound effects. The original soundtrack pieces featured in the demo were amazingly poignant and fit right in with the realm of God of War

Honestly, this is one of the best demos I have ever played. It lasted around 20 minutes and I enjoyed every single minute of it. It left me wanting more, with the feeling that March is years away. Hopefully Dante’s Inferno and Bayonetta will hold me over until March, because that is when THERE WILL ONLY BE CHAOS!
