Free Shank Soundtrack

shank1

Shank is looking like a great game in every aspect. One of those aspects is its soundtrack. The heavy rock style music with a Spanish influence really captures the feel of the game nicely, and what better way to celebrate such a musical feat than to release the entire soundtrack for free.

“From an artistic standpoint, it was perfect,” said CEO of Klei Entertainment, Jamie Cheng.

The soundtrack is being release for free, because a little while back, Cheng said he would release the entire soundtrack for free if he got 1,500 people to join a Shank Facebook group. Well, now Cheng has to honor has word, because the group reached those numbers in a mere three hours. So far, only the first six tracks have been released, but the rest will be remastered and released sometime around the release of the game.

Gotta love free.

Castle Crashers for PSN Dated

Castle-Crashers-PSN

Mark your calendars now folks because, according to the latest PlayStation blog, Castle Crashers for PSN has been dated to release on Tuesday, August 31st. One of the best downloadable games for Xbox LIVE arcade will finally be available for all the brothers and sisters who are on the PlayStation 3 side of things.

Behemoth’s Kelly Revak states:

“We’ve been working on Castle Crashers  for the PSN for about a year and a half. In that time I’ve had the fortune of meeting everyone at tradeshows and lots of people will ask me, “C’mon, what is taking so long?” I have to say that we’ve felt the same way — our whole team’s goal is to make you all happy so we want to share it right now!! We’re super antsy. But like all of our games, we can never rush anything as it’s necessary to make sure that every little piece is airtight. And fun!”

It’s never too late to play an amazing game.

Young Thor Review (PSP/PS3)

Young Thor PSN Mini Wallpaper

Young Thor is a PlayStation Mini title that can be played on either the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable. The game is a throwback to Norse mythological history which adds a cutesy-theme to the Action you can expect from hammering trolls, unleashing lightning attacks on arachnids, and more. In this brief yet satisfying title you are faced with a decent degree of challenge as well as re-playability and though the PlayStation Minis have no trophy support (at no fault to the developer Frima Studio) this game does feature a built-in Achievement system that will further extend the play for perfectionists and those who seek a higher degree of completion from their games.

The Black Keys and Neon Trees Arriving in the Rock Band Music Store

Neon-Trees

Harmonix and MTV have announced that two rock bands will be making their debut on Rock Band, August 17. Tracks from The Black Keys and Neon Trees will release simultaneously in the Rock Band Music Store for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.

“We’re excited to be part of the Rock Band world because the game really introduces artists to young kids,” said Tyler Glenn, lead vocalist and keyboardist for Neon Trees. “Any video game introducing kids to The Replacements and old REM is something I can get behind.”

I wonder who gets more excited, the bands or the players? Maybe it’s a mutual moment of excitement. Anyhow…here are the six tracks that will be releasing, and as you can see, there are three tracks from the respective bands:

  • The Black Keys – “Strange Times”
  • The Black Keys – “I Got Mine”
  • The Black Keys – “Your Touch”
  • Neon Trees – “Animal”
  • Neon Trees – “Sins of My Youth”
  • Neon Trees – “1983”

Each individual track is about $2 (160 Microsoft Points, 200 Wii Points), or can be bought as The Black Keys Pack 01 and the Neon Trees Pack 01 at about $5.50 (440 Microsoft Points) each. Unfortunately, there are no packs for Wii.

Metroid Month at Nintendo World Store in NYC

metroidotherm 01

With Metroid: Other M arriving on store shelves later this month on August 31, Nintendo World has named the month of August 2010 as Metroid month. What does this mean for the Nintendo World Store in NYC? It means you can stop by to play both classic Metroid and some of the newly released Metroid titles.

It would have been pretty cool to see some NES and SNES action, but Metroid and Super Metroid will be running on the Wii via Wii Shop Channel downloads throughout the store. Along with those, Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime: Echoes and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will also be playable. I’m assuming the Metroid Prime titles will be played via the Wii version, but it also would have been cool to see some GameCube action, as well.

We will keep you posted on Nintendo World and Metroid as the release date for Metroid: Other M draws nearer.

Sega Keeps the Classics Coming, PC Gamers Eat Your Heart Out

Alexkiddenchantedcastle1Ask any gamer who has been playing since the “golden age” or earlier and they will tell you sometimes it’s just all about the classics. Why do we revisit games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario Bros., or even Galaxian and Tetris for that matter? Because these games hold a special place in our hearts and take us back in time to a simpler day when we were enchanted without the need for Hi-Def, 3DHD, Motion Tracking, or even Standard-Def for that matter. Sega understands, hears our cries, and is doing something about it.

A short while ago DualShockers let the world know of Sega’s world domination plan (re-releasing classics to the PC platform via digital distribution gateways) and now that plan gets its next set of marching orders. Hope you are ready to be assaulted with another group of Genesis classics from the hay-day of 16 bit gaming. Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, Dr. Robotnick’s Mean Bean Machine, and Eternal Champions, among others, are heading to digital distribution platforms starting at $2.99 each (depending on the title) and will be available for download soon.

Replika Concept Art Released, You Will Consume Hypnodo and Like It!

Replika hypnodo propaganda-1024x681

Every tyrannical ruler knows that the key strategy to absolute control over your population begins with small, simple steps. These steps start small but build the foundation for bigger concepts to thrive such as brainwash, complacency, and of course submission and acceptance of your brutal yet guised rule. One of these small steps includes poisoning the public with helpful medication in doses that will not kill but will degrade the quality of brain functions such as thinking and questioning authority/accepted social occurrence you have enforced on your people.

The propaganda seen above (click for full size) can be found on the streets in the upcoming real-time strategy game Replika. Replika is a PlayStation 3 digitally distributed exclusive RTS supporting stereoscopic 3D HD. Hypnodo is reinforced with this poster seen at the dismay of the main character who is featured in silhouette with her hand out in compassion for the people being fed these pills that keep them from questioning the ways of their rulers. Keep it locked on DualShockers for more upcoming news, concept art, trailers, and anything else Replika that surfaces.
