Activision has announced that two Build-A-Bear Workshop titles will be arriving to Nintendo’s systems in under two weeks. The titles are Build-A-Bear Workshop: Friendship Valley for Wii, and Build-A-Bear Workshop: Welcome to Hugsville for DS. We don’t know what game of the year 2010 is just yet, but cutest titles of the year will definitely be going to these two.

THQ Releases SpongeBob’s Boating Bash
Today THQ announced the release of its first ever demolition derby style party game. You can smash ‘em, crash ‘em and beat ‘em down in SpongeBob’s Boating Bash, which was released to the Wii, the Nintendo DS and the DSi.
The game is fun for the whole family, causing destruction in the crazy world of Bikini Bottom. You can start out customizing your own boat, and then proceed onward to start bashing on your favorite SpongeBob SquarePants characters. Along the way, make sure to collect boat parts to earn you boating license.
Are You Ready for Some… Baseball?
Well are you? You better be, because not 1 but 2 officially licensed baseball series’ will be landing on store shelves today. While one of them will be coming out for every single game machine out their (possibly Texas Instruments calculators even) the other will be Sony only. This has pretty much been a one horse race for the past two years but let’s take a quick look into the two who will be contending for your $60, shall we?
Crime Drama Again Gets Release Date, Trailer
If you’re aching for a crime drama that you can take with you wherever you go, you might want to look into Again, the upcoming Nintendo DS game from Tecmo Koei, developed by CiNG. In this title you’ll take over the life of FBI agent Jonathan Weaver (they are always FBI agents…), as he looks for clues to a murder that happened nearly 20 years previous. This murder, of course, has a personal attachment to Weaver, as it was his family that was killed and he was the only survivor. The entire drama is set in a fictional 1990s-era New Jersey and is supposedly getting some pretty good comments already. Hit the jump to check out some of the game’s features from the press release and the new trailer.
The Dragon Quest IX Juggernaut Comes to North America
Dragon Quest might not be as big in Western lands, but in Japan this franchise is huge! How huge? Huge enough to move over 4.1 million units to date. This could quite possibly be why Nintendo had to jump in and make sure this DS RPG comes to North America by partnering with Square-Enix as publisher and developer respectively. While I doubt we can expect to see those numbers here, it will definitely be nice to get my hands on the latest and greatest the franchise has to offer. If you’ll recall, the last numbered game in the series, Dragon Quest VIII, was released here on the PS2 back in November 2005. Here we are now, almost five years later, and we get the next numbered game, except it’s on the DS. It’ll be a day-one purchase for me for sure.
The announcement that DQIX was going to make its way across the Pacific was given today at Nintendo’s event in San Francisco, which is likely filled with a whole mess of other announcements (some of which are already gracing this site). Still, this one is by far the most anticipated upcoming game for me. Yes, I’m a JRPG nerd, hear me roar!
DSi XL Release Date and Price Announced
I hated holding the DSi. For whatever sick reasons God had, he decided to mold my hands in a very ‘unique’ way. My palms are huge, and my fingers are the size of macaronis. Making a fist would be almost impossible as my fingers – which are so short – don’t overlap when closing my hands. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but still… the DSi did my hand no justice, which is why I’m excited to hear that the DSi XL finally has a release date and price announced for North America. Yea… I’m a fan of gargantuan tech toys.
At its Media Summit today, Nintendo announced that it’s hefty-sized DSi XL would be releasing on March 28 in North America with a meaty price of $189.99 (a $20 increase over it’s undersized sibling) to match its size. The DSi XL comes with a much larger screen and a much more adult-friendly stylus. With the Nintendo Media Summit continuing today, we’re hoping to hear of some new titles that might accompany it with its launch.

Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth Review
The latest entry of Capcom’s Ace Attorney series has arrived on Nintendo DS. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth released on February 16, 2010, and looked to steer the series in a new direction.
If you aren’t familiar with the previous Ace Attorney titles, they are heavily text-based games that take place in various areas, but usually in the courtroom. You interrogate, press for clues, and present evidence to shut people (usually liars) up. Every so often you go out to the scene and gather information through some point and click mechanics. They are all pretty great games that have already brought the series this far. So, how does Miles Edgeworth stack up?
THQ and SyFy Making Family Games + More!
Today brings great rejoice for science-fiction fans and gamers alike. Today is the day that we see the leader in sci-fi entertainment online and broadcaster on television Syfy enter into a partnership with heavyweight in the game development and publishing industries THQ, and it will not be forgotten. With news of entirely new game concepts and intellectual properties on the way from this duo, we can expect lots of new franchises. The possibilities of Syfy’s most provocative, deep, and entertaining ideas making their way in new form in the form of franchises that will likely breathe new life into the games and movie/tv industries.
With the imagination running wild from what could be included in the lineup of new franchises from this team, it is also apparent that THQ and Syfy are paying attention to growing family entertainment and casual game markets by launching the all-new Syfy Kids brand of family and casual video games. There is a strong possibility these games will be widely embraced. Does any gamer out there remember seeing the de Blob commercial and getting excited to play it, only to realize you don’t have the right console? I wouldn’t mind having some fun with games like de Blob for Nintendo Wii on my console! I’m sure fans of the series would also enjoy the expansion of the franchise with all-new installments, as well as the continued support of fan base.
Brilliantly enough Syfy and THQ are bringing de Blob to an even wider audience with cutting-edge innovations to launch Syfy Kids. The new brand Syfy Kids seeks to provoke the imagination in a subtle, positive, and often comedic manner. Games like de Blob allow the gamer to fill in much of the fantasy with their own imagination and set the stage for mostly innocent joyous thoughts. That is why families will have no problem picking up games like this and it’s a great way to launch the brand. I am hopeful we can also look forward to Syfy games for the adult crowd coinciding with the Syfy Kids brand in some way or another.
For a lot of people out there, including myself, de Blob was one of those Nintendo Wii games that you want to play with you anywhere and anytime. THQ and Syfy have recognized the potential of this and are set to bring de Blob to the masses. Who knows what else might come out of this partnership, given the fact they are talking new IPs, it could be anything.
Syfy will begin developing ‘webisodes’, television and consumer products like toys, with the future plans of movies definitely an objective. Games are also coming soon! No release dates have been put forth yet and the developer who will create them is unknown. THQ is preparing to have new games based on de Blob across multiple gaming platforms developed and published some day before March 31, 2011.*This is not a release date nor estimate. Look out for exciting new content in the entertainment world from Syfy Kids and other THQ and Syfy collaborations.
Atlus Graces Us With New Strange Journey Screens
The next game in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise is coming upon us quickly – March 23 to be exact. Strange Journey is set to grace Nintendo’s hand-held system and will likely give us a deep, rewarding RPG experience just like previous titles in the series. Today Atlus released several new images from the title that should help hold fans over until the game hits next month. I’m still waiting for a hand-held RPG to really capture my attention, because I’m not much of a portable gamer. But, hey, if anyone can do it, Atlus can!
Keep in mind, every copy of Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey will come packaged with a limited edition soundtrack CD, as well as the game itself. If you’re a collector of game music, especially for Atlus’ games, this is definitely something to check out. You don’t even need to pre-order, just go to the store on release day and pick up a copy. Don’t wait too long, though, as there might be a limited number of launch day copies. Enough with this rambling, the screens are below!
