Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth Review
The latest entry of Capcom’s Ace Attorney series has arrived on Nintendo DS. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth released on February 16, 2010, and looked to steer the series in a new direction.
If you aren’t familiar with the previous Ace Attorney titles, they are heavily text-based games that take place in various areas, but usually in the courtroom. You interrogate, press for clues, and present evidence to shut people (usually liars) up. Every so often you go out to the scene and gather information through some point and click mechanics. They are all pretty great games that have already brought the series this far. So, how does Miles Edgeworth stack up?
Dark Void DLC and Soundtrack Next Week
Capcom has announced that next week DLC will be arriving on XBOX Live and the Playstation Store for Dark Void. The new content will be available for 400 Microsoft Points ($5) on XBOX 360 February 10 and for $4.99 on PS3 February 11. The content will be an “arcade-esque experience where the player battles through hoards of enemies on the ground and in the air while collecting points and upgrading weaponry, with the goal being to survive to Round 10 and increase their previous high score.” On top of the DLC, Capcom has also revealed that Sumthing Else Music Works will be releasing a soundtrack for Dark Void and Dark Void Zero (DSi) on February 9. It is unknown how much it will cost or how it will be available via XBOX 360 or PS3, but Capcom says it will be available as a disc as well.
New Pokémon on the Way
The Pokémon Company has announced that a new Pokémon series is currently in development and on the way. This new series will be coming to Nintendo DS and will include new Pokémon, new functions and new features. Release for North America is unknown, but should be arriving in Japan this year. Please please please break away from formula. I like the Pokémon games a lot, but they have become very stale to me. I will probably never get my wish. Not until a Pokémon MMORPG arrives. Why did I use that image as this post’s thumbnail?
Mega Man Zero Collection News
Capcom has announced that the Mega Man Zero Collection will be coming Stateside for Nintendo DS. The date is not concrete yet, so Capcom has given us the rough estimation of its arrival in North America in early Summer 2010. It will be the four Mega Man Zero games bundled together for the Nintendo DS and what will include “all-new modes.” What can these new modes be? Who knows. We’ll bring you more news as more news develops. The screenshots below are (supposedly) from the game, but they’re not even dual screen images. So, what the heck…
The Oregon Trail on DSi
Unfortunately, as a kid in school I never got to play The Oregon Trail like most of my peers have (I did play some other sweet computer games). Every time my friends would reminisce about The Oregon Trail, I would have to simply look down at my phone or kinda laugh awkwardly and say stuff like “oh yeah that game.” Nintendo just sent out their January news to me and one of the games mentioned is The Oregon Trail, which released about a month ago for 800 points ($8). I just thought I’d remind you all that it’s out there and that it’s ready for you all to download. Happy Trailing!
Dark Void Zero Out Today
Today Capcom has released Dark Void Zero for Nintendo DSi via Nintendo DSiWare. The title is not available for download at the price of 500 Nintendo Points ($5). As most of us already know, Dark Void is coming out tomorrow for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Dark Void Zero is also promised to be releasing on PC and iPhones pretty soon as well. I guess if you’re already a committed Dark Void fan or just love DSiWare you should start rushing to download this title now! Although, it doesn’t sound or look too bad in my opinion. Capcom says:
“To commemorate Dark Void’s humble origins, Capcom commissioned the recreation of the original 8-bit classic, now re-titled “Dark Void Zero”, on the DSi platform. Players take on the role of Rusty, the first human born in the Void. With the aid of Nikola Tesla and his trusty jetpack, Rusty embarks on a quest to prevent the evil alien race, “the Watchers”, and their minions from taking over Earth in this retro 2-D action-adventure. The game also features an authentic 8-bit soundtrack by famed composer Bear McCreary, the man behind the music of Dark Void and Battlestar Galactica!”
DSi XL Gets a Launch Date in Europe
A release date for the much bigger, adult-friendly, sexy DSi XL (the bigger DSi) has been provided by Nintendo of Europe. Those of you who inhabit these places across the Atlantic will be able to get your gaming on with the system on March 5… you lucky bastards.
For Europe, the system will launch in beautiful Wine Red and Dark Brown colors, rather than the Natural White that Japanese gamers were given for the system’s launch. Aside from the statuesque facade and up-sized design for fat fingers, the DSi XL will come preloaded with DSiWare, which includes Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training: Arts Edition, Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function and the Nintendo DSi Browser. Let’s not forget the sexy looking stylus which looks extremely comfortable. Goody!
This is a day when I am not jealous, as usual, of the Europeans. Yes, I am excited for the DSi XL because it fits well in my oversized palms and undersized fingers, but I can wait. Plus, maybe we might get some better colors. Here’s me hoping for Dark Black and Stinky Green.
Sonic for Your DS… Kinda.
If you’re like me, you’re waiting very patiently for the Sonic Collection for Nintendo DS. But don’t worry, to make the wait a little less painful (or more painful, depends on how you take it) third party device master Mad Catz has the solution. If you look down below you can see a slew of Sonic oriented Nintendo DS goodies. You have your Sonic sleeve, Sonic carrying cases, and Sonic DSi cover. Personally, I like the green carrying case best. Green because Sonic is too blue for blue, red looks like blood, and yellow is too mellow. =)

DSi Motion Control Demo Video
Engine Software, a Netherlands-based handheld gaming studio, has developed technology for the DSi which will change the way handhelds are played. The tech? Motion sensitivity. The company has developed a very brief video of TILT which shows off the new technology in action. Just a fair warning, please forgive the atrocious music. It definitely gives off a “cheesy” sound – kind of like those composed in B movies.
Engine Software is also currently working on a full DSiWare game that will incorporate this motion sensing technology. The video is nifty, disgusting music aside. Wondering when this new tech will come into play on the DSi? So are we. We will keep you posted as news comes in.
Portable Wrestling Cases
Love Wrestling and the WWE, but hate not having a case on your portable gaming system. Well you’re in luck, because these new cases kill two birds with one stone. Pinpoint consumer electronics, a UK based company that makes video game peripherals, has made wonderful WWE cases for your PSP, DS lite, and DSi. These are officially licensed WWE products and have three of the most popular WWE superstars printed right on them. These superstars as you can see from the product images are John Cena, The Undertaker, and Rey Mysterio. However, I think these would be really cool if we had some options, and not just these three on one case. What if I’m a fan of two of them, but not John Cena? I wouldn’t buy the case anymore. Oh well… that’s just me and my two cents. You can get your hands on these cases by clicking here.
