Module Puts His Work Up For FREE

The composer behind one of my favorite OSTs from last year is celebrating a milestone today. Module, the man behind the music for Shatter, is giving all the music away on his site for FREE (excluding the Shatter OST, but you should all have that by now).

This is truly an amazing deal, all the music is INCREDIBLE! Downloads are in FLAC, so audiophiles can praise the high quality soundscapes.

Follow Module on Facebook HERE and check out his music store HERE.

THQ Releases MX vs. ATV Reflex Soundtrack

I’m a fan of game soundtracks.  Of course, I usually stick with RPG orchestral music, it usually puts me in a pretty mellow mood when I’m really stressed or something.  The MX vs. ATV Reflex official soundtrack that was just released is not likely to have that effect on you.

This soundtrack is helmed by Raymond Herrera, a music industry veteran.  It includes a rather eclectic mix of original creations that blend with the action of the game almost seamlessly.  See, this isn’t mellow – the mood of the soundtrack reflects heavier music styles, drawing influence from the likes of Killswitch Engage, Soilwork (that sounds dirty), Corrosion of Conformity and Fear Factory.

The vice president of global brand management at THQ, Brian Coleman, had this to say about the music:

“The MX vs. ATV Reflex soundtrack is a perfect example of great synergy between the right music and a compelling gameplay experience.  The overall product is certain to have appeal with a widespread audience of game enthusiasts, off-road fans and mainstream consumers.”

Here are the tracks included on the soundtrack:

1. “Pressure Plate” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
2. “Nac Nac” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
3. “Aftermarket” (Robert Cote)
4. “Holeshot” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
5. “50 Ft. Drop” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
6. “Pilot Jet” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
7. “Terrain” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
8. “Devil’s Swingarm” (Dave Lowmiller)
9. “Wheels In Motion” (Robert Cote)
10. “Scraping the Can” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
11. “Machined From Billet” (Dave Lowmiller)
12. “Silencer” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)
13. “Accelerate” (3volution featuring Raymond Herrera)

For more information on Raymond Herrera’s production company, 3volution Productions, you can check out their site, as well as the official MX vs. ATV Reflex site.

Sidhe Shatters The Price On The Shatter OST

I recall back to E3, when I had my first chance to play Shatter, (however, it was shut down for the day when I got there, so I never actually got to play it at E3) I had heard from Glenn Percival, that it was a PSN title to definitely look forward to. Fast forward to July 23, 2009 and the game hit the PSN. The game managed to meet all the hype and I actually scored it an 8/10.

Shatter has, what I think is, the best soundtrack for a downloadable title this year. The soundtrack is a majestic electronica soundscape, each song added something different, and as a whole the soundtrack really enhanced gameplay, by putting you in a trance. The soundtrack makes me think of Daft Punk as well as the Death From Above 1979 and Architecture in Helsinki remix albums.

Now that you all know that the soundtrack is absofreakinlutely amazing, let’s get to the meat of this matter. In celebration to receiving IGNs PSN Game of the Year, Sidhe is offering the entire OST for a minimum price of $1; however, you can pay more if you would like. This offer is lasting from right now until Christmas day, so make sure that you take advantage of this amazing deal. I provided the track listing with times as well, so you can see what you are going to be getting for your money. WAAAAAAAAAY more value than a double cheese burger, see, the Shatter OST will save your life by making it so you have to give up that burger today. I, for one, have already purchased this, and I will be listening to it while I study for all of my finals this week.

Assassin’s Creed II OST Available November 16th

Personally, I really enjoy a good score, and I mean a musical score, although the other kind of scoring is probably better. I feel that a good score not only accents the game or movie, but it also is powerful enough to invoke emotions from its listener. I have found myself to be a person who loves to listen to scores while studying usually, and as a musician, I can really appreciate the level of dedication, inventiveness and musicianship.

The Original Soundtrack for Assassin’s Creed II will be releasing on November 16th for download. This release is the day before the release of Assassin’s Creed II and it would be a wonderful way to get into the mood for AC II. Jesper Kyd is returning as the composer for AC II and he is taking the music to a new level. It really looks like they want to use the music to pull the player in and keep them there. Kyd stated, “We created a unique musical identity for Assassin’s Creed II that reflects the character and story of Ezio and elevated the music, both in terms of creativity and live production, to a whole new level.”

This is definitely one that I will be picking up, although AC II is probably not going to be a day 1 buy for myself. I am extremely excited to hear how Kyd will be pulling us into the Italian Renaissance with the score.
