Third PAX Event on the Way?

This past weekend’s PAX Prime event in Seattle drew an attendance of 67,600. The last PAX event in March, the first PAX East, drew an attendance of 52,290. With such great success in 2010 alone, Penny Arcade’s Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins have hinted at bringing a third event into the mix. An event that may expand PAX outside of the States.

According to a Q&A session with Gamasutra, “the team hinted that a third PAX would likely take place in a different country; preferably somewhere the duo want to visit.”

Could this really happen? Record-breaking attendances and the ongoing success of PAX events point to yes.

The Fight For Antaloor Continues in Two Worlds II

Shown off at this year’s PAX East, Two Worlds II received quite a favorable impression from those who laid their eyes on it. Published by TopWare Interactive and SouthPeak Games, and developed by Reality Pump, Two Worlds II will be heading in the direction of your Windows PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and MAC on September 14th, 2010 with a North American release.

Two Worlds II is a single-player and multi-player RPG that allows you to venture through the next chapter of the story of Antaloor. Gandohar uses the power of Aziraal that is stuck within Kÿra to disrupt the balance between the elements and take control over the dark powers. With the hero a prisoner inside Gandohar’s castle, he fears saving his sister may not be an option, and then the unexpected happens. The Orcs, who are a race that the hero has always hated so very much, pull off a prison break to free the hero from the grip of Gandohar and lay waste upon the evil that fills Antaloor.

Two quite humorous videos were released by SouthPeak Games showing us what the world of Antaloor is like through the eyes of Gandohar’s right-man, Sordahon. Take a look after the break for the “serious” documentary videos of Sordahon’s journey.

PAX EAST Late Night Happenings

Doors closed on the first day of PAX EAST at 2am, but majority of the people left around 5pm-6pm. I came back and I was there from 9pm-1am, and I was surprised to see the event was still alive and kickin’.

Media Has Arrived at PAX EAST!

The DualShockers team has been in Boston now for a little over 12 hours and has just entered the media room. Just take a look at the picture above! It looks like the war room at the Pentagon. Just gave Greg Miller a subtle but stern “BEYOND!”.

PAX East Schedule Has Been Announced!

For those of you planning to hit up PAX East in Boston later next month, I assume you’ve been waiting for this announcement for a while, just like myself.  Today the entire three-day convention schedule has been posted, with all the panels, concerts and live events that are going to be available for attendees to…attend.  Along with that, if you haven’t already seen the list of announced exhibitors and performances, you can check those out.  Remember, this is only the announced list, not the final list of everyone and every company that will be there.

DualShockers will be there all three days attending events, checking out games, chasing down cosplayers and just generally tearing the place up.  Perhaps literally, you haven’t seen me when I knock back a few pints, and I don’t even want to think of what the other editors are capable of.  The event goes down March 26-28, 2010 in Boston, stay tuned!

Wil Wheaton Keynoting at PAX East

Because my wife is madly in love with Wil Wheaton, I feel a particular need to write about this new fact I picked up at Kotaku today.  Also, I want to write about it because I’ll be there and she won’t, and I can rub it in her face.  I know, I’m evil.  So, to the point: Wil Wheaton will be giving the keynote speech at the first ever Penny Arcade Expo on the east coast the last weekend of March.  He is one of the icons of our precious geek culture and has unique and interesting views on geek-dom and gaming, making him the perfect speaker to launch the east coast PAX extravaganza.

For those who don’t know him, he’s arguably most famous for his roll as Wesley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation.  Since then he has become an accomplished author – writing I believe three books – as well as continuing his acting career in smaller guest rolls in popular television and web series such as The Guild, Leverage, Criminal Minds, Numb3rs, CSI and The Big Bang Theory.

Am I looking forward to this?  Oh yes, definitely.  But, not as much as my wife would be if she could be there listening to him give the keynote at PAX in a month and a half.  I’ll be there along with the rest of the DualShockers crew, so keep an eye out for us to tear up Boston!  In the mean time, I’ll likely be sleeping on the sofa tonight…

PAX East Performers and Exhibitors List Unveiled

The first Penny Arcade Expo to be held outside of the Seattle area is shaping up to be quite the awesome event.  Of course, did you expect anything else?  It’s looking like PAX East in Boston will have over 60,000 attendees.  With the event being about a month and a half away, we were starting to wonder where all the performers and exhibitors were.  Not that we were worrying or anything!  We now wonder no more, as the initial list of those performing concerts and publishers/developers who will be exhibiting has been released. The list below contains the announced concerts and exhibitors, but it absolutely not exhaustive.
