StarCraft II Breaks 3 Million Sales

StarCraft-2-screen-mothership-1024x768

It was no question that Blizzard was going to hit it big with StarCraft II, especially when the competition revealed itself as very weak in the Real-Time Strategy genre. It seemed like long-time respected RTS franchises simply got out of StarCraft II’s way and wanted to have no part in competing with this behemoth of a title. When it finally arrived the world knew why. The most entertaining and highest selling PC game of the year thus far, and possibly the best RTS for the next decade, has just passed 3 million sales in it’s first month.

This sequel to the 1998 title remains focused on strategy arguably more than any other title out there and has introduced the improved Battle.net system among other innovations. How far will the momentum behind this title take Blizzard? Only time will tell, for now things are looking great with no end in sight.

PlayStation Move Will Only Cost Me $180, And I’m Buying All of It

PlayStation Move

PlayStation Move, what can we say about this device yet to release? Well if you have been following the news lately there is a lot to be said. The accuracy of this device is arguably the best ever seen in a motion gaming solution. Tech demos like THIS have brought us a peek into the future of what Move will bring but E3 2010 has also shown us what is already in the works such as Socom 4. Some things change, some things stay the same. E3 2010 opened eyes about motion gaming and brought new thoughts on the Move as people realized that this is not just another gimmick, including us.

I once had doubts about motion gaming being accurate and about its relevance to gaming, until I saw it add to gaming I had to assume this would just be another broken promise from a gaming giant over-stretching itself to try and cover every aspect of gaming technology they could. I was wrong, and the proof is in the pudding as they say. Move brought the heat and now I’m here to tell you why I have no issue putting down the big bucks to jump in.

Killzone 3, inFAMOUS 2, and More Will Release in Latin America Day One

Killzone 3 Helghast Neck Snap

For our friends down south, and I mean far down there, the time of waiting for exclusive PlayStation 3 games to arrive is soon to be over. In a new commitment announced by Sony Computer Entertainment America Killzone 3 and inFAMOUS 2 will be heading to PlayStation 3 in Latin America fully localized for 2011 launches. This deal is the beginning of a much wider variety and selection for Latin American friends who will  be able to pick up titles the day they come out in US and Canada where they live in their own native language. Mark Stanley, General Manager of Latin America at SCEA, let the world know that in addition to full product warranty and service, every AAA title will launch day one in Latin America alongside its American / Canadian counterpart, he also had this to add:

“In addition to same day launches of PlayStation’s entire line up of AAA games for the region, we’re also offering a number of products that are only available in Latin America, such as the Gamer Kit line. We’re listening to our consumers, and whether it’s stereoscopic 3D content, exclusive games, or the new PlayStation Move experience, our fans will be very busy this year being entertained”.

This is an exciting time to be a gamer no matter what country you live in, and Sony Computer Entertainment is doing their part to make sure it is just as exciting for the Latin American gamer community which grows more and more every year. We sincerely hope to see more of the international gaming community joining in on what many of us are already enjoying as well as being able to experience their entertainment of choice the same day that we do. And on the 1st day the lord said “let there be gaming!”.

Kinect Being Bundled With Slim 4GB Xbox 360 Arcade For $300

4gb-bundle-groupshot-530

With recent news that Microsoft has decided to retail Kinect at $150, an announcement has also been made that a brand-new 4GB Xbox 360 “Slim” will be replacing the current clunky Xbox 360 SKU. According to Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg, the new SKU will land in North America August 3rd, and later throughout the month of August for the rest of the world. The new $200 console will have the same sexy look as the Xbox 360 slim, with the exception of the gloss – having a “matte finish” instead. For those of you who aren’t aware yet, and are jumping for joy and chanting hoorah’s, there are zero hard drives in the market as of yet that support the slim; so upgrading the HDD is a no-go for now. However, as per Greenberg, the 4GB unit does include the expansion bay, which will serve well in the future. Have no fear, though, everyone. With an abundance of 16GB USB thumb drives, you won’t have to worry much about storage until a more “subtle” storage medium is introduced to the Xbox 360 slim lineup.

As well as introducing the world to the slim Arcade, Microsoft has also given some details on a Kinect bundle, which features the 4GB Xbox 360 slim along with the Kinect sensor and Kinect Adventures for an affordable, and attractive, $300. “We think this is really a tremendous value,” Greenberg stated. “We believe the launch of this product is going to be driving a whole new series of new consumers into the Xbox 360 family.”

If you’re praying to your deities in the hopes that Microsoft includes something other than Kinect Adventures in those bundles, you’re pretty much screwed. It will be the only game, that we know of, with the new Xbox 360 bundle. The Kinect bundle will be readily available for pick-up at your retail stores on November 4th, alongside the standalone Kinect which will be going for $150.

Resident Evil Supports PS Move, But Not For You

Resident Evil Gold PS Move E3 102 6808-1024x577

With PlayStation Move on the horizon, gamers everywhere have been hearing Sony proclaim from the mountain tops how they have so much support for the motion-sensing peripheral said to be “a new platform” by the gaming giant. I got to play on the PS Move at E3 2010 and, though I did enjoy myself and believe the controller to be a truly great idea, I did have some issues with one of the announcements made during the Sony Press Conference. The way it went down left a sour taste in my mouth, and I feel like I need to speak up about this. If you are a Capcom “fan-boy” I advise you do not continue past this point without covering your eyes.
