New Fable 3 Screens Show Up At GDC

A lot of media coming out of GDC this week, and Fable 3 isn’t going to be left out in the cold, that’s for sure. In a new batch of screens from the upcoming Xbox 360 exclusive we see some character models, some skeletons and some caves or mines. But, they look awfully pretty, wouldn’t you agree? Fable 3 is currently scheduled for a release sometime around the holidays this year and I’m sure we’ll hear more about it in the coming months, especially with some more sizable gaming events approaching.

Here’s a New Knights in the Nightmare PSP Trailer

While I didn’t really pay attention much to this title when it came out on the DS last year, it is looking rather nice for strategy RPG enthusiasts. I can’t count myself among that crowd, but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating a nice-looking game! The PSP version of Knights in the Nightmare will be releasing this year, and Atlus has released a new trailer for the game, which you can check out after the break.

Atelier Rorona 2 Before We Even Get the Original?

Atelier Rorona is a Gust-developed RPG for the PS3, which is being brought over to North America compliments of NIS. Even though they have confirmed it will be localized, no firm date has been given on when it will be, past a general date of ’sometime in 2010.’ Even though we still don’t have the first title, there is a possible teaser for a sequel that was found in the latest issue of the Dengeki PlayStation magazine in Japan. It’s likely that the sequel will indeed get localized, as well, but NIS seems to be dragging their heels with the first one, so who knows when. I’d love to add this addition to the Atelier franchise to my PS3 collection one of these days and, hey, a sequel can’t be a bad thing, right?

More Free Mass Effect 2 Goodies

If you have the Cerberus Network on your copy of Mass Effect 2, look for more goodies upcoming besides the “Firewalker” mission pack. There is another new weapon that will show up for you, free of charge, via the Cerberus Network soon (if it hasn’t already). That weapon would be the arc projector. It is basically a big zap gun to, well, zap your enemies into nothingness. Check the details of the weapon and another pic after the break.

Purchasing FFXIII tomorrow? You Shall Be Rewarded!

No special, collectors or limited editions of FFXIII in North American makes me a sad panda. You know what partially makes up for it? This little tidbit of info from the FFXIV beta site: There is apparently a FFXIV beta invite code in retail copies of FFXIII. Howe Squeenix kept this quiet until the day before release is anyone’s guess, but hey, more power to them.  Hit the jump for the new details from the beta site, which also includes hints about the upcoming PS3 beta of the new MMO.

Final Fantasy IV Heads to the Wii Virtual Console

So, Final Fantasy XIII comes out this week for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.  For Wii-only owners who care about Final Fantasy (if you do, why don’t you have one of the other consoles yet?), the only way you’re gonna play something “new” this week is by way of Final Fantasy IV on the virtual console, which will be available to download today for 800 Wii points ($8).  Hey, not a bad game, right?  Sure, it isn’t FFXIII, but hey, beggars can’t be choosers!  What version of the game are you getting for that $8?  The original U.S. version, not any updated versions that have come out since.  This is unfortunate, but hey, refer to my earlier statement about beggars and choosers.

Square Enix Asks Fans, Should We Remake Final Fantasy VII?

We have been teased before with everything from screen shots to video of tech demos showing the possibility of a High-Definition remake on PlayStation 3 of Final Fantasy VII.  Square Enix recently furthered discussion of this possibility recently when they asked their fans to chime in on the topic.  Read more for what happened next!

Yakuza 3: Memories Trailer

With the release of Yakuza 3 right around the corner, March 12th to be precise, Sega has released this trailer as a teaser for the upcoming game, but also to highlight the past of the main character, Kazuma.  With only brief images from the first and second games, you don’t get a lot of history behind Kazuma, but it’s enough to tickle that itch and might have you running out on the 12th to pick yourself up a copy.

FFXIII On the PS3 Is the Way to Go

This debate has been going on probably since we heard that Square-Enix’s flagship franchise was going cross-platform this generation.  Will it look better on the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360?  It seems that debate has been answered as of late.  In all honesty, this is actually one of the seemingly few games that have been developed with Sony’s system in mind.  This is because the game is not cross-platform in Japan, only in Western regions.  Naturally it had to be developed with the PS3 being its lead platform.  Let’s compare some facts about both versions.

New Alpha Protocol Developer’s Diary Talks Gadgets

Alpha Protocol is an espionage RPG that aims to make you feel like James Bond in more ways than one.  Naturally, any spy worth his salt has a ton of fancy gadgets at his disposal, and, in this game, things aren’t any different.  This developer diary delves into the various trinkets you can use in your adventures.  Here, the team at Obsidian talk about many of the gizmos found throughout the game that add much of spice and flair that you can expect once you get your hands on it.  Hit the jump for the video and remember, Alpha Protocol releases on June 1, 2010 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Atlus Showcases Hexyz Force Screens and Art

Hexyz Force is an upcoming RPG from developer Sting, being published by none other than the awesomeness that is Atlus.  It is an interesting RPG in that you take the role of two different characters with two completely different stories, which I’m assuming somehow relate to each other eventually.  Anyway, the PSP seems to be a hot place for some pretty good RPGs as of late, and this one sounds like it won’t be any different.  Hit the jump to take a look at the recently released screen shots and artwork, provided by Atlus.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope International Review

I’m having a feeling of déjà vu, but in a good way. There was a time, not all that long ago, where I was really hurting for some decent JRPGs. To my surprise, they turned up exclusively on the Xbox 360. With that in mind, I purchased my little Microsoft box in late 2008, because I knew what was coming up – the latest Star Ocean game by tri-Ace, one of my favorite JRPG franchises. I pre-ordered and played the game on the 360 and really enjoyed it, for the most part. I was so enraptured by actually having a fresh JRPG to play that I let a lot of things slip by in my mind, possibly putting the game up on a higher pedestal than it really should have been located. How did my second encounter with this latest Star Ocean game fare, taking into consideration all the additions to the PS3 iteration? Read on to find out!
