Vanquish Demo Impressions
There is something about Platinum Games titles that I just can’t put a finger on. They have a certain je ne sais quoi or swagger if you will. Whether you’re slaying angel fiends or entrenched deeply within space, each of their games possesses a unique and distinct flair that simply oozes quality. In this aspect, Vanquish appears to be no different from its older brothers and sisters.
From the very start menu it boasts a very distinct, very immersive ambience. This only increases as you begin to play through the demo. Playing the game somehow makes you feel so cool and stylish. The visuals are absolutely superb. You’re going to make your first stop at the tutorial though, where all the controls are explained in a very simple yet effective manner. The controls really are wonderful I might add.

Could Sega Be Revealing Valkyria Chronicles 3 at TGS?
Sega recently registered a domain name that strongly hinted that there was a Valkyria Chronicles 3 coming down the pipeline. That was last week, several days before the second incarnation was even released in North America. Today we find a site that Sega has put up that pushes that assumption even closer to confirmation – http://code1935.jp/.
On that site, you’ll see the above image, with the words “Top Secret” plastered up top, and a reveal date of 9.16.2010, which is the first day of the Tokyo Game Show. You can easily recognize the tank in the image above, but if you look closer, you’ll see heavy weapons like those used by Lancers in the Valkyria Chronicles games. Also visible are some other weaponry that seem oddly familiar to fans of that franchise. What do you think? Will we see a Valkyria Chronicles 3 announcement from Sega at the Tokyo Game Show? Here’s hoping!
Views: 139Sonic Adventure Dated for XBLA
Sonic Adventure will soon be making its way onto the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live. Never heard of Sonic Adventure? It’s an older title released first for the SEGA Dreamcast. So now we’re getting SEGA Dreamcast re-releases on the Xbox 360. Exciting stuff, right?
The planned release date is September 15th and it will be priced at 800 MS points, which in actual currency, is about $10. Releasing so close to Halo: Reach is certainly risky. Apparently, the Dreamcast title Crazy Taxi may also make its way over to the Xbox, so stay posted for more information as it becomes available.

As if the games rock solid development team and its legendary lineage weren’t enough of a reason to be giddy, they’ve gone and released a game play trailer showcasing Vanquish’s pre-order bonus.
We revealed this bonus some time ago as a weapon pack containing three unique guns. Few details were available on this GameStop exclusive bonus at that time. This new trailer will give three very good reasons you should pre-order this much anticipated title months before release.
Vanquish is being developed by Platinum Games, published by SEGA and directed by gaming great Shinji Mikami. It releases on October 19th for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Hit the break to check out the exciting new game play trailer.
Views: 159Valkyria Chronicles III in the Works?
That may seem like an odd question, considering the second game hasn’t even hit store shelves in North America yet. I can almost guarantee Sega is working feverishly on a third game for the franchise. I’d say that even before today’s discovery that the domain Valkyria3.jp has been purchased by Sega. You can’t get there now because it is password protected, but that almost confirms a third Valkyria Chronicles game is either in the works, or at least is being strongly suggested for production. What do you guys think?
Valkyria Chronicles II releases on August 31, 2010 for the PlayStation Portable.

Views: 152GamesCom 2010: Sega Announced Virtua Tennis 4 with Move Support and 3D
Today at GamesCom in Germany, Sega announced the next title in their Virtua Tennis franchise, Virtua Tennis 4. While this typically wouldn’t be that big of deal, what makes it interesting is what the game supports. It will be fully compatible with Sony’s PlayStation Move. So, I bet you can already imagine playing tennis with the move controller, eh? Sounds pretty cool, don’t you think?
This will allow the game to track your hand movements very precisely, from broad swings to subtle flicks of your wrist. This isn’t to mention it will be able to track the speed and angle at which you hit a ball, which, ultimately, determines how fast the ball travels and where it lands.
Virtua Tennis 4 will also support 3D technology, which is another big push Sony is making in recent months. The console manufactuer even comments on Sega’s support of their technologies in the press release.
“Virtua Tennis 4 is a fantastic example of how our 3rd Party partners are seeing the potential not just in PlayStation Move, but also 3D,” said Simon Rutter, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing at SCEE. “The combination of both Move and 3D offers an entirely new gaming experience and one that has the potential to completely change how people interact with their entertainment. Virtua Tennis 4 shows how this technology can be implemented and we are very excited to be working with SEGA on this.”
Of course, aside from the visual presentation and control mechanisms, there are also tons of additional features that will be showcased within the title, as well, but we’ll have to hold out a bit for those. Check below for some screens that were released along with the announcement. Tennis fans, rejoice!

It won’t be too much longer and we’ll be graced once more with the sequel to Sega’s masterful Valkyria Chronicles, which garnered quite a bit of praise a couple years ago when it was released. Valkyria Chronicles II is on the PSP, but that doesn’t mean it lacks anything compared to its predecessor. On the contrary, actually – the sequel improves upon the original and even adds in more features. Imagine that, right? Sega is being very good to fans of the franchise.
First off, if you’re at all interested in it, you have to go out today and download the demo, which should be up on the PlayStation Store soon. Secondly, it was also mentioned on the PlayStation Blog today that there will be Western-exclusive items in the game. Within the game, you can obtain stickers that you can use to spice up the vehicles you use in combat. We’ll see some brand new ones for the Western release of the game. They’ve also included some unlockable characters from the original title in our version, as well. These characters were actually in the Japanese version, but it is nice to know they will be included in ours, as well.
Valkyria Chronicles II hits store shelves and virtual warehouses (the PSN) on August 31, 2010, just a few short weeks from now.
