MySims SkyHeroes Impressions

MySims-Logo-1024x423

I recently got to sit down and check out the kid friendly MySims SkyHeroes, which is slated to release at the end of September. It was the Xbox 360 version and I was told that this was not the final build. It not being the final build was very apparent when the loading times took longer than a normal loading screen should. Other than that, the final version of MySims SkyHeroes should be exactly what I saw.

The Sims 3: Ambitions Video Released For Your Pleasure

The Sims 3 Ambitions

Kicking it up a notch from previous Sims games is The Sims 3 which will be coming to virtually every home console since Colecovision. The following video shows us that it’s not just the same old Sims game and a lot of new scenarios and situations are in store for long-time fans of the series. Finally you can pick the game up for Mac, PC, iPhone (or Windows Mobile phone, N-Gage, and/or Android) and/or the console(s) of your choice and not be confined to the bland mundane life that once was The Sims so many years ago before all of the expansions and sequels. Enjoy the video that seems to hint at a lot of secrets under the surface of The Sims 3, which for some reason is in French.

The Sims 3 Coming to a Console Near You This Fall

sims 3 logo

Most would think that with the ridiculous barrage of PC titles out there, something else besides EA’s The Sims 3 would be the best-selling franchise on the PC, right? That isn’t the case. There’s nothing more entertaining – and yes I speak for myself as well – than building a beautiful home with a pool in the back, having a party, sticking all your guests in the pool, and becoming the most ludicrous serial-killer in your neighborhood by removing the pool ladder, and watching those poor Sim people drown as you nonchalantly sit at a bench and enjoy your grilled cheeseburger.

At one point in time, only PC gamers enjoyed the luxuries of performing mundane acts of angelic or demonic activities. But, this time around, it seems that gamers from all plateaus will living-la-vida Simolian. EA has announced the The Sims 3 is in development for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii and DS, with all versions planned for a Fall release. The console versions will come jam-packed with “all new” features, like “Karma Powers” which determine whether your Sim can “get lucky” or, on another note, experience an “epic fail.” For all you social networking whores out there, you’ll be jolly to know that both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of The Sims 3 will include Facebook connectivity (as everything else does nowadays), so you can share you Trophy and Achievement updates with the plethora of friends I know you have. Oh, and there is more.

The Sims is Now a Decade Old

Want to feel older than you already do today? Then it’s my pleasure to inform you that EA’s the Sims series has just turn 10 years old. Sit back and take that all in for a second, and like me, just try to think to yourself: where did that time go? The idea of the Sims (gibberish speaking families of avatars in which you can live vicariously through, and dictate their every move) is crazy enough. And of someone told me that it would have lasted this long when it originally launched I would have thought they were out of their damn minds but here we are now.

In its 10 years of existence the game has turned itself into an industry power house. It has even rivaled sales numbers of the highest grossing motion pictures of all time. It has earned over 2.5 Billion dollars in revenue. It is available in 60 countries and in 22 different languages. One thing about The Sims it is an almost perfect social parody of art immitating life, and with that in mind I’ll leave you with a quote from the official press release.

If the games were buried in a time capsule, when unearthed in 100 years, The Sims would give future generations an instant understanding of how people lived between 2000 – 2010.

On behalf of the DualShockers Team, I’d like to wish The Sims a Happy 10th Birthday! They’ve earned it!

EA and Dr Pepper Unveil Media Partnership

Fans of soda drinks have long been accustomed to twisting off the top and winning a free drink or receiving a code to win a t-shirt or hat. Well, Dr Pepper and EA Games have announced a media partnership that will blow away anything previously seen. For 2010 fans of Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, Spore and The Sims 3 can win exclusive content to download. Anything from outfits in The Sims to a variety of weapons and uniforms for players in Bad Company 2.

“Consumers get free game content and a whole new way to experience the Dr Pepper brand.”

“Dr. Pepper’s decision to partner with EA is an investment that will bring a lot of value to their brand and to their consumers,” said Elizabeth Harz, Senior Vice President of Global Media Sales for EA. “Consumers get free game content and a whole new way to experience the Dr Pepper brand.”

“We wanted to give consumers an unrivaled experience by offering a range of valuable game enhancements that elevate their experience within the games and create brand affinity,” said Tony Jacobs, vice president of marketing, Dr Pepper. “The EA promotion gives fans an unbelievable gaming experience that they can only access through Dr Pepper.”

How it works is simple: first you buy a 20oz Dr Pepper or a specially marked fountain cup, then find your exclusive code, and then redeem the code at http://www.drpepper.com/promotions/ea for a variety of game enhancements for Battlefield Heroes, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Mass Effect 2, Spore and The Sims 3 and others to be announced throughout the year. These parts allow players to mix robot and organic creature body parts to design their own Cyborg creatures. In Mass Effect 2 (shipping January 26th for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system, PC), a shooter RPG from EA’s award-winning BioWare™ division, there are three unique pieces of armor: two helmets and a visor. The game was recently named by The New York Times as one of 2010’s most anticipated games.
