Bangai-O HD Coming Soon to XBLA

The coveted Bangai-O series from developer Treasure is immensely popular in Japan. The arcade shooter is a rarity here in the states, with exceptions to 2008’s Bangai-O: Spirits for the Nintendo DS. A new game entitled Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury will be making its way to the Xbox Live Arcade.

The game will be published by D3Publisher. It will feature more than 100 levels and a level editor which will allow you to share with friends via Xbox Live. The game will run you 800 MS points or $10 and will release this fall.

Sonic Adventure Dated for XBLA

Sonic Adventure will soon be making its way onto the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live. Never heard of Sonic Adventure? It’s an older title released first for the SEGA Dreamcast. So now we’re getting SEGA Dreamcast re-releases on the Xbox 360. Exciting stuff, right?

The planned release date is September 15th and it will be priced at 800 MS points, which in actual currency, is about $10. Releasing so close to Halo: Reach is certainly risky. Apparently, the Dreamcast title Crazy Taxi may also make its way over to the Xbox, so stay posted for more information as it becomes available.

Microsoft Unveils XBLA Autumn Line-Up

With the “Summer of Arcade” promotion just winding down, MS has revealed a list of games to expect on the Xbox Live Arcade in the coming months. Most of the titles even have pricing, and summarily there appears to be a nice variety of titles. I’m personally looking forward to the Xbox version of Plants vs. Zombies. Check out the full list below:

• September 8: Plants vs. Zombies, 1200 points ($15)
• September 8: Dance! It’s your Stage, 800 points ($10)
• September 15: Sonic Adventure (800 points) ($10)
• September 29: Hydrophobia, 1200 points ($15)
• October 6: Comic Jumper, 1200 points ($15)
• October 13: Pinball FX 2, (each table is bought individually)
• October 20: Super Meat Boy (Pricing TBD)

Details on New Toy Soldiers DLC

Real time strategy game Toy Soldiers was very well received when it hit the Xbox 360 earlier this year. After an exceptional performance from both the game and its first expansion pack, it became clear that Signal Studios had something on their hands with this title.

They’ve continued to support the game since release and soon it will be getting a second expansion pack. Named Invasion, the expansion will add a host of new content including sci-fi themed toys. There is no confirmed release date, but there is speculation that we’ll see it in September.

There is also no price confirmed, but taking into account price of the last update, we can infer that it will be around 400 points. If you’ve never played Toy Soldiers, there is a free demo available on XBL.

Red Faction: Battlegrounds Announced by THQ (w/ Trailer + Screens)

Gamescom will be a place of many wonders this year and among those will be a title announced today called Red Faction: Battlegrounds to be published by THQ on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. The famous fan-favorite destructibility will make its triumphant return once again in Red Faction: Battlegrounds and is accompanied by the addition of mechs, tanks, and other annihilation-based vehicular weapons. This title will be digitally distributed across the PSN and XBLA store and marketplace respectively.

Combat will take place below and on top of Mars territory as developer Volition Inc. executive produces the project developed by THQ Digital Studios UK who sets out for players to experience a four-man (or woman)  local / online multi-player experience across game modes like Survival, Annihilate, and Flag Frenzy. Ranking up will unlock bonuses for the upcoming full title Red Faction: Armageddon. The aim of is to provide a totally easy-to-get-hooked version of the franchise and interest old players and new alike with the downloadable entry Red Faction Battlegrounds.

Interview: Hothead on the Humor of DeathSpank and Weapons that Didn’t Make the Cut

Recently DualShockers had the chance to interview Hothead (creators of DeathSpank) and were pleasantly surprised with the humorous nature of their title bleeding through to their nature. Trials HD Big Thrills Design-a-Track Contest Goes Live

On the Xbox Live Arcade right now gamers can design tracks for XBLA exclusive Racing / Puzzle title Trials HD and enter it to win a chance at getting their track featured in an upcoming Big Thrills expansion pack to be released this year. But wait, it gets better! If that was not incentive enough you can also pick up a good amount of cash for landing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place. 10 winners will get their tracks published in the Big Thrills expansion pack DLC and will receive a Trials HD sweatshirt and flag, 3rd place will receive $1,000 in addition to this, 2nd place $3,000, and 1st place winner gets $5,000 to take home. Dead Rising 2: CASE ZERO Coming Exclusively to XBLA

On August 31, 2010, Dead Rising 2: CASE ZERO will be available for download exclusively on Xbox LIVE arcade. The title will run 400 Microsoft Points ($5), and it will fill players in on what happens two years after the original Dead Rising and three years before the upcoming Dead Rising 2. It will also help introduce the protagonist of Dead Rising 2, Chuck Greene.

“With Dead Rising 2: CASE ZERO we had two goals: provide newcomers with an easy point of entry to the Dead Rising universe, and give fans of the series an insight into what took place after Frank West survived the outbreak at the Willamette Mall,” said Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s Head of R&D Management Group and Executive Producer for Dead Rising 2. “We have certainly achieved both of these ambitions but I am equally pleased that we are able to give gamers so much unique and entertaining content at such a great price.”

It is also neat to note that what you do in CASE ZERO will carry to Dead Rising 2 when it releases on September 28, 2010.

Mega Man Universe Teaser Trailer Shows Ryu

In the latest trailer from Capcom Mega Man Universe is teased in what feels like a retro throwback commercial themed video. The following clip features Ryu from Street Fighter fame, among others like Arthur from Ghouls ‘N Ghosts, teaming up in what seems to be the most revolutionary Mega Man game yet. With not much details announced quite yet you will want to keep your eyes on this one for sure, check out the teaser trailer after the break.

Plants vs. Zombies For XBLA Priced

If you’re curious as to how addiction truly feels, you should probably get your hands on a game that oozes digital methamphetamine that will provide you with hours of satisfaction. Plants vs. Zombies is one of these games. If you have yet to play this game, make an effort to pick this gem up on Xbox Live. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that the game has finally been announced by PopCap to release on XBLA with both a price and release date.

Due to release early September, the game will feature two new multiplayer modes, 21 mini-games unique to the XBLA version, 12 whopping achievements. Adding to the cauldron of awesomeness, the game will also feature a new way to track and share progress online, with players creating their own custom homes which can be visited by friend who wish to ridicule their mediocre scores. PopCap has also stated this will be the sexiest looking version by far, with a resolution of 1920×1080 (high-definition, for those of you who aren’t savvy with technical specifications).

The game will run you 1200 Microsoft Points ($15), that is definitely well worth every penny. If, for whatever reason, you’re not an owner of an Xbox 360 because you prefer to spend a bunch of your money on upgrading parts on your computer, a “Game of the Year” edition for both PC and Mac will be shipping to retails stores for $19.99. What does the additional $5 get you? A zombie figurine. I’m in there like swim wear.

BlackLight: Tango Down Launch Screens Arrive

BlackLight: Tango Down may very well be this week’s diamond in the rough when it comes to new releases. It’s an online first person shooter that packs the punch of a AAA title with the price of a Modern Warfare 2 map pack. That’s right, it’s a big title with a small price tag.
