The WWE 2K series has allowed wrestling fans the chance to become a WWE Superstar through its MyCAREER mode. Similar to the NBA 2K series, the mode lets you take your created player through their career choosing whatever path you desire. If you want to be a heel that rocks a good promo, you can do that. If you want to concentrate on attaining and retaining the Intercontinental Championship, that is available too. 2K Games recently revealed new features for WWE 2K18's story-driven mode that strives to improve upon previous iterations.

This year's game puts a focus on narrative. To accomplish this, two paths are available for players to choose: Company Man and Fan Favorite.

The Company Man path is all about aiding the general managers in garnering their vision for the company. This involves backstage discussions with GMs, interrupting superstar's interviews, ambushing other wrestlers in the locker room, and whatever else it takes to maintain their view of the WWE. Helping the higher-ups will give you useful upgrades and access to the office of WWE Chairman and CEO, Vince McMahon.

The Fan Favorite path is the antithesis of the Company Man. Instead, you are more concentrated on putting on five-star matches and exceptional promos. You will also attempt to gain the respect of WWE Superstars and Legends found backstage. By doing this, you will earn in-ring bonuses for your matches and promos. Going above and beyond to become the fan favorite will give you the ability to customize your very own WWE Championship or Universal Championship.

These paths all lead to your MyPLAYER's WrestleMania moment. However, the game does not end there. You may continue your career after the company's biggest pay-per-view event.

WWE 2K18's story-driven mode includes more than just two new career paths. Backstage free-roam, updated promos, and new MyCAREER invasion features will all help shape the story-focused mode.

WWE 2K18 releases for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on October 17. The Nintendo Switch version will be available sometime this Fall. Here are some screens of a few backstage interactions in latest iteration of the wrestling series:
