Today, Yacht Club Games took to Twitter to confirm that development on their upcoming Shovel Knight campaign Specter of Torment has finished. Specter of Torment is the second expansion to Shovel Knight and is free to those who have previously purchased the game.Shovel Knight's previous campaign add-on, Plague of Shadows, was released in September of 2015 to high praise and allowed you to play as Plague Knight. Specter of Torment will, of course, allow you to play as the menacing Specter Knight. In the future, a third campaign add-on will be coming and it focuses on the character of King Knight. No other information however has currently been revealed for this next expansion outside of a GIF that Yacht Club Games posted on Twitter last summer. Each of these campaign add-ons were stretch goals of Yacht Club Games during Shovel Knight's Kickstarter phase. The game raised enough money to ensure that Yacht Club would create these three extra campaigns in addition to many other features like a battle mode which is still on its way later this year. While we don't know specifics on Specter of Torment's release date yet, we do know that it is scheduled to launch this spring on PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Mac, PC, Linux, 3Ds, Wii U, and Xbox One. Additionally, Yacht Club Games announced that Shovel Knight and all of its expansions would also be coming to Nintendo Switch. Also recently announced was that the price of Shovel Knight will soon be increasing, so if you want to buy the original game and get all of these additional campaigns for free, you should do so now.Since development on Specter of Torment has now officially been completed, be sure to keep an eye out for a release date in the coming days and weeks.
