Last month during E3, Square Enix and Capcom announced a partnership that would soon see content for Monster Hunter World making its way into Final Fantasy XIV. Now, we know just when this new content will drop.

Square Enix announced today that the Monster Hunter World update will arrive on August 7, as a part of Final Fantasy XIV's update 4.36. This new crossover content will allow players to challenge the Rathalos, one of Monster Hunter's most iconic creatures from the series' history. Only those who are level 70 in FF XIV who have finished the main quest in the Stormblood expansion can fight the Rathalos in both normal and extreme versions of "The Great Hunt" trial.

Those who are able to defeat the Rathalos will be able to earn the following new gear for their character:

  • New Armor Set – Inspired by Rathalos

  • New Minions – Poogie and Palico

  • New Mount – Rathalos

  • New Furnishing – BBQ Spit

Lastly, a new trailer showing off the Rathalos' arrival in the world of Final Fantasy XIV was also released today. You can find that video at the bottom of the page.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for play on PS4, PC, and Mac. If you want to read about the other aspect of this crossover that will soon have Final Fantasy XIV's Behemoth arriving in Monster Hunter World, be sure to check out the first gameplay footage that just released.
