The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is filming for a while now but we haven't heard anything about who would be playing the titular character. That is, until now. Today, Variety announced that comedian and actor Ben Schwartz will be playing the little blue hedgehog in the film.

Schwartz is probably most known for his role of Jean-Ralphio Saperstein on the hit show Parks and Recreation, however, more recently he played the role of Dewey on latest Disney Channel reboot of DuckTales. Here, he'll, obviously, only lend his voice talents, unless he also provides motion capture for the character as well.

Schwartz joins the already talented cast list of Jim Carrey, who'll be playing Sonic's villain Doctor Robotnik (Also known as Eggman), and James Marsden, who was cast as Tom Wachowski back in May of 2018.

As of the time of this writing, very little about the film is known beyond some of the castings. Sonic the Hedgehog is set to be released in theaters nationwide on November 15, 2019.
