We've known about the remaster of The World Ends With You coming to the Nintendo Switch since January, but now there is finally news about a Western release date. The World Ends With You: Final Remix will be available on Nintendo's hybrid console on October 12.

The vibrant Japanese RPG from Square Enix made a name for itself when it was originally released on the Nintendo DS in 2007. The innovative dual-screen battle system, the game's depiction of youth culture and fashion, and a totally rocking soundtrack allowed The World Ends With You to stand out in the crowded DS library. The game was also brought over to mobile as The World Ends With You: Solo Remix.

While the Switch lacks the DS's dual screens, the Final Remix of the game will have its own unique features, with different control schemes for the Joy-Con controllers and touch screen, and a two-player co-op mode. The remaster also adds a new story scenario featuring a mysterious new character, making this what Square Enix and Nintendo tout to be the "definitive version" of The World Ends With You.

To mark the announcement of the release date, Nintendo also released a new teaser trailer for Final Remix, which you can watch below. Over in Japan, the remaster will release on September 27. Check out some recently released screenshots here.
